Dying Light 2 Kevin’s Food Backpacks are quest items you’ll have to find to complete The Breadwinner side-quest in Houndfield District. Kevin’s Backpacks are relatively easy to find, even though some players reported a bug that seems to stop them from collecting the food for Kevin.
Since Techland’s devs already announced a new patch for their latest release, this bug should be fixed quickly, so if you need help with this quest, below I’ll tell you where to find the DL2 Kevin’s Food Backpacks and how to complete The Breadwinner side-quest.
On the map below, you can notice that Kevin’s location (or the quest’s starting point) is Houndfield.
To make Kevin spawn or to be able to play the Dying Light 2 Breadwinner side-quest, however, first, you’ll have to finish the main quest named Markers of Plague. Once you do that, head to the location marked on my map (northwest of Cherry Windmill), and on the roof of a building, you’ll find little Kevin (pictured).
When you talk to Kevin, he’ll tell you that he is on a mission and gathering food for his parents, which is quite a strange task for a kid. Regardless, he’ll accept your help, and in return, he’ll even reward you with his father’s weapon.
Now, it is time to look for the backpacks containing the food, but these are in a Dark Hollow zone, so make sure that once you accept the quest, you press and hold the Down button on your Dpad. This action helps you fast-forward time.
Where To Find the Backpacks Containing Food That Kevin Left Behind
The backpacks containing food that Kevin left behind are inside a shop found west of Kevin’s location.
Travel to the location I have marked on the map above, then while on the ground on the western side of the building, look for the entrance to a shop named Nate Market (also pictured).
Crouch to get inside the shop, and now things should become straightforward. Your objective is to loot the backpacks inside the shop until you find three cans of food. Without going over the infected inside, start with the backpack by the counter. You’ll see it the moment you enter the shop.
Another backpack can be found behind a shelf on the other side of the store. Make sure you dispatch all infected nearby first.
Finally, look behind the counter near the previous bag for the third backpack. You should be able to spot it on the ground.
If you can’t find any food inside this bag, there is a fourth one in the backroom. It sits by the lockers, as you can see.
Now, assuming you have all the food for Kevin, head outside and open your map to see his location. He is just across the street to the south inside his house. The said building can be accessed via the window on the upper floor. Notice that the room has a purple light inside.
After you get inside, you’ll find Kevin and his parents inside a cage, and when you talk to him, he’ll tell you that his parents transformed into infected, but he takes care of them by bringing food every single day. Another bug that can occur while playing this quest may stop you from interacting with Kevin.
His face is falling, and you won’t be able to complete the quest since you can’t hand over the food. If this happens to you, too, then consider restarting the game. Kevin rewards you with a Billhook Machete for bringing back the food for his parents, and the Dying Light 2 Breadwinner quest ends.
