Dying Light 2 Scott’s Necklace is a quest item you’ll have to retrieve to finish the Out Of Your League side-quest and help Scott, or Nerys’s son, in Techland’s video game. Out Of Your League is a side-quest with multiple choices, and it is a bit longer than the other side-quests we have covered so far.

The choices you’ll have at the end of the Dying Light 2 Out Of Your League quest won’t affect the main story, but they determine the rewards you’ll receive; therefore, throughout the guide below, I’ll tell you where to find the Necklace for Scott in Crocodile Flats and what to do with it.

On the map below, you can notice that this quest becomes available at the Bazaar in Trinity District.

What you should know, though, is that Out Of Your League has two essential requirements:

  • First, you have to assign the Horseshoe Water Tower to the Survivors
  • Second, you have to finish the True Friends side-quest

Only then you’ll be able to talk to Nerys inside the Bazaar. As you can notice, she’s standing next to the vendor.

Once you speak to her, she’ll tell you that her son Scott went missing. You’ll have two choices while talking to Nerys, and both of them have the same outcome and lead to your first objective, which is finding Scott.

Nerys also shares some intel on Scott’s whereabouts. Her son fell in love with Ruud’s daughter, Loes. The problem here is that Ruud doesn’t like Scott too much, but Loes does. So, you’ll need to meet Ruud first.

Where To Find Ruud

From Nerys’s location, head to the other side of the building to find Ruud and his daughter. As you can notice, Ruud is next to some stairs, close to the exit.

When you talk to him, all dialogue choices help you determine that Ruud is not the nicest person in the Bazaar. He hates Scott but loves his daughter, also introduced during your conversation.

From these two NPCs, you’ll find out that Scott went to prove himself and find a treasure of some sort in Crocodile Flats. Upon talking to Ruud and Loes, you’ll have an optional objective, which requires you to speak to the guard at the gate. Exit the Bazaar through the door nearby, and you’ll see the guard the moment you go outside.

No matter what you ask the guard, he won’t help you too much, so you can entirely skip this step if you want. Now, your goal is to get to Crocodile Flats and find out what happened to Scott.

Crocodile Flats Location

Crocodile Flats is in Houndfield District, west of the Bazaar. You can see the location you’ll have to reach on my map below.

Once you reach the location on my map, go to the ground level and look for a corridor similar to the one in my screenshot.

Here, you’ll have to investigate several clues. So press the right thumbstick to scan the area. The clues you’ll have to find are:

  • A lockpick on the wooden plank in front of the door
  • The doorknob

Make sure you interact with both of them, and you’ll receive a new objective.

How To Follow Scott’s Trail

To follow Scott’s trail in Dying Light 2 Out Of Your League quest, you’ll need to scan the area (press the right thumbstick constantly) so you can see Scott’s footprints on the ground. You’ll have to move from one clue to another and interact with them as you progress. The starting point or the first clue is the axe on the ground, near the dumpsters (pictured).

Upon investigating the first clue, head left to spot a decoy on the ground, then down the street, and to the right, there is another clue near the green dumpsters. From here, several steps away and to the right, you’ll find a bloodstain on the ground and, in the alley to the left, another one.

When you exit the alley, head left to spot another clue near two wooden planks, then a blue stain near the blue car. The last clue is on the metal door of the store across the street (pictured).

How To Find a Way Inside the Building Where Scott’s Trail Ends

Once you find the last clue, your investigation ends, and your goal is to get inside the building where Scott is hiding. Go around the corner (right) and climb the balconies outside to get to the top floor (pictured).

When you enter the room, you’ll see a metal door, and behind it is Scott. But he is not alone. As you can guess, your next objective is to dispatch the hired thugs. After you deal with them, you’ll get to talk to Scott and understand his story.

The long story short here is that Scott tries to impress Ruud to accept him. Since you fixed the Water Tower, he couldn’t impress Ruud by bringing water anymore, so he tried to find another way.

Specifically, he went after a Necklace that was quite expensive. But Ruud told him about the Necklace in the first place, so basically, he sent him to get it. During the first part of the dialogue, the choices are not crucial for the outcome, but the last one is:

  • It’s not worth it. Ruud set you up – you’ll be asked to return to the Bazaar and finish the quest
  • I’ll go there and get it for you – you’ll be asked to find the Necklace

The latter choice, in this case, is the recommended one because of the rewards you’ll receive.

Where To Find Scott’s Necklace

Scott’s Necklace is just across the street from the building where you found him. It is the same building where you found the first clues above. This time, however, you’ll be able to lockpick the door and get inside.

Once you do that, get inside the first room, which is a restaurant, and head to the other side. Open the door behind the counter, then in the kitchen, use the ventilation system (pictured) to get to the elevator shaft.

While in the elevator shaft, in the upper corner, you’ll see another hole. Climb inside, and you’ll reach the stairs leading to apartment 10. Destroy the planks blocking the hole on the right side, then get to the bathroom.

Again, destroy the planks and crawl through the next hole. Picklock the metal door on the right side when you get to the bedroom, then while in the hallway, force-open the elevator door. Now, head inside the elevator, then use the hole in the ceiling to ascend.

When you exit, you’ll find the apartment where Scott’s Necklace awaits. Typically, you’ll want to mop up all loot in this area, and you’ll also want to open the Safe in the room with the TV. On the other hand, if you’re looking only for the Necklace, smash the planks that block the door on the right side of the TV, then pay close attention to the corpse on the chair. You’ll see that it is wearing the Necklace Scott is looking for.

Great, so now that you got Scott’s Necklace, it is time to get back to the Bazaar and deal with Ruud.

What To Do With the Necklace (Best Choice)

As said, the Dying Light 2 Stay Human Out Of Your League choices only affect the rewards you’ll receive, so consider this when you find Ruud, Loes, and Nerys at the Bazaar. You should be able to spot them near the bar.

Dying Light 2 Out Of Your League Best Choices

When talking to them, everything you have discovered will make sense, so you get to decide what happens next.

  • Give Necklace To Scott Pretending He Got It (Lie) – The quest ends, and you’ll get 2250 Combat XP, 750 Agility XP, and 550 Old World Money
  • Tell Loes That Her Father Set Scott Up (Truth) – The quest continues, and you’ll get two more choices.

In this case, the recommended choice is the second one, even if Scott is upset. Eventually, Loes sends her father away, but now Nerys has two additional people to feed since the couple decides to move in with her. If you pick the latter, then you’ll get two additional choices:

  • Use Necklace To Convince Nerys – The quest ends, and you’ll receive 2250 Combat XP, 750 Agility XP, Old World Whiskey, and 550 Old World Money
  • Stay Out Of It – The quest ends, and you’ll get 2250 Combat XP, 750 Agility XP, Necklace, and 550 Old World Money

If you want to play the nice guy here, then the first choice is the recommended one because Nerys can sell the Necklace and use the money to support the young couple. The last possible choices for this quest occur if, when you talk to Scott for the first time, you tell him that It’s not worth it. Ruud set you up.

In this case, you can still go to Crocodile Flats and get the Necklace, then head back to the Bazaar. You’ll get to talk to the same people, and you have the following choices:

  • Not My Place To Interfere – The quest is completed, and your rewards are 2250 Combat XP, 750 Agility XP, and 550 Old World Money
  • Maybe This Necklace Can Help – Complete the quest and get 2250 Combat XP, 750 Agility XP, Old World Whiskey, and 550 Old World Money

So, how did you use Scott’s Necklace to finish the Dying Light 2 Out Of Your League side quest?
