Dying Light 2 Alder Windmill is one of the 17 Windmills you need to activate in the video game developed by Techland. The Dying Light 2 Stay Human Alder Windmill is also one of the 2 Windmills in Trinity, the other one being the Larch Windmill, and it is required if you wish to unlock the Don Quixote trophy/achievement.
Since this point of interest can be pretty tricky, below, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about it and how to activate it. Or how to climb on top of the DL2 Alder Windmill.
Where To Find the Alder Windmill
As you can see on the map below, the Dying Light 2 Trinity Alder Windmill is found just north of the Bazaar Settlement.

This location is essential for Aiden’s story; however, the Windmill in question can be activated without reaching the said Settlement. In other words, you can activate the Windmill the moment you finish the Markers of Plague Story Quest or the third main mission in the game. Hakon asks you to mark the Windmill at the end of the said quest. Immediately after this, head to the landmark to activate it.
How To Activate Alder Windmill
Upon reaching the location on my map above, your goal is to reach the top of the Alder Windmill. This can be done by following a specific path outlined below. Once close to the Windmill, on the left side, you should notice a wooden platform with a yellow tarp on it.

Jump and grab the platform, then turn right, and you’ll see a weight that is moving. Be patient and wait for the weight to reach the bottom, then press R1 to jump and grab it.

Now, while standing on the weight, wait for it to reach the top, then turn around and jump to grab the wooden platform on the other side of the mill.

From here, turn around and walk on the wooden plank. Around the corner, you’ll see a ladder you can climb. This ladder gets you to the top of the Alder Windmill.

Look around for a fuse box on the roof and interact with it. By doing so, the Dying Light 2 Alder Windmill is activated, and you’ll earn 500 Parkour XP.
