The video game, released on August 3, 2023, for PC, is one of the most expected titles of the year, while the PlayStation 5 version was scheduled for September 6, 2023. Baldur’s Gate III is a role-playing video game featuring turn-based combat elements similar to those experienced in Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II. Unlike the latter, however, the combat is based on the D&D 5th Edition rules.

Our collection of Baldur’s Gate III guides contains in-depth tutorials and how-to’s for the trickiest side-quests, puzzles, and objectives you may encounter while exploring Faerûn, as well as recommendations on the best decisions and dialogue choices you can make if you want to get the most out of the latest video game published by Larian Studios.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Arcane Turrets are magical automated turrets that fire on any living being who tries to get too close to them. During the quest Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite, you need to collect Timmask Spores and Tongues of Madness from the Arcane Tower.

As you get close to the Arcane Tower, your party members will be continuously targeted by two Arcane Turrets located outside of it. However, the Arcane Turrets can be turned off or destroyed, and we’ll explain how to beat them below.

How To Destroy or Disable the Baldur’s Gate 3 Arcane Turrets

The Arcane Turrets in Baldur’s Gate III take double damage from Lightning attacks, making them a weak spot for spellcasters with access to such spells. Here are a few examples of spells or items that can cause Lightning Damage to destroy the Arcane Turrets:

  • Arrow of Lightning (Common Magical Arrow – Ammunition)
  • Shocking Grasp (Cantrip)
  • Witch Bolt (Level 1 Spell)
  • Chromatic Orb (Level 1 Spell)
  • Lightning Bolt (Level 3 spell)
The Arcane Turrets are weak to Lightning Damage and they will take double damage.

While the turrets are not weak to these specific damage types, they have no resistance to Bludgeoning or Radiant Damage. You can make use of Shadowheart’s cantrips once they have increased in power by having her cast Sacred Flame repeatedly from a distance to take them down.

Be aware that their Sturdy quality will significantly reduce damage, so it may take a few shots to destroy them. Keep repeating this process until you can safely reach the entrance of the Arcane Tower.

Another way to temporarily disable the BG3 Arcane Turrets is to throw a Sussur Bloom from a safe spot near them. Sussur Blooms in Baldur’s Gate 3 are rare flowers that emit a short-range antimagic field, which means no magic can be cast close to one, with no exceptions.

Throw a Sussur Bloom near the Arcane Turret to disable it.

You can find plenty of Sussur Blooms around the Sussur Tree on the west side of the Underdark. Hook Horrors patrol the area, so it’s recommended to be at least level 5 before heading there. And that’s how you disable the Arcane Turrets in the role-playing video game developed and published by Larian Studios.
