As you make your way through the Mountain Pass in Baldur’s Gate 3 to find the Githyanki Creche, you can encounter an NPC called Lady Esther. If you agree to help her with a task, you will begin the Steal a Githyanki Egg quest.
There are multiple ways to complete the Steal a Githyanki Egg quest based on your choices and level of honesty. So, here’s all you need to know about stealing a Githyanki Egg for Lady Esther in Baldur’s Gate III, as well as the outcomes of every possible decision.
How to Start the BG3 Steal a Githyanki Egg Quest
In order to start the Steal a Githyanki Egg quest, you must speak with Lady Esther in the Mountain Pass area of the map. Lady Esther is located northeast of the Trielta Crags waypoint, standing near her camp.

When you talk to her, she’ll explain that she’s on a mission to obtain a Githyanki Egg. However, she was chased away by the Githyankis at the Rosymorn Monastery. She mentions being a part of The Society of Brilliance, who view the Githyanki as old-fashioned and plan to raise one of the eggs to teach them their ways.
Lady Esther requires your help retrieving a Githyanki Egg from the Rosymorn Monastery since the Githyankis are uncooperative. She points you to the Githyanki Creche to retrieve the egg.
How to Steal a Githyanki Egg in Baldur’s Gate III
The Githyanki Creche that Lady Ester mentioned earlier is called the “Creche Y’llek” and is located in the basement of Rosymorn Monastery. To reach the Rosymorn Monastery, follow the path northeast, and you should reach the main entrance with the locked doors of the Rosymorn Monastery.
After you get on the other side of the Rosymorn Monastery Doors, head north down the stairs to find the Monastery Basement door leading to Creche Y’llek. Once inside, proceed straight and turn right at the massive pillar in the middle. Head right of the portrait and go through the Oak Door leading to the Hatchery.
There are two methods to obtain the Githyanki Egg from the Hatchery. In the Hatchery, you can talk to Varsh Ko’kuu, the Custodian of the Hatchery. If you pass both Persuasion checks, you can convince Varsh to give you a Githyanki Egg instead of stealing it and fighting for it. So, it is recommended to quicksave the game before speaking with Varsh Ko’kuu in case you fail the Persuasion checks.

At the end of the conversation, he will give you the Varsh Ko’kuu’s Boots, which provide you with immunity to acidic surfaces and resistance to Acid damage. So, with the Varsh Ko’kuu’s Boots, you can enter the acidic lake and pick up the Githyanki Egg. But before you interact with the egg, make sure to disarm the Gas Pit under it.

In case you fail to convince Varsh Ko’kuu to give you the egg, you can kill all the Githyankis in the Hatchery first, then steal the egg using Varsh Ko’kuu’s Boots after you loot his corpse. Stealing the Githyanki Egg in BG3 has no consequences; even if you kill everyone inside the Creche Y’llek, the other Githyankis outside will be oblivious.
The decision to steal the egg or convince Varsh Ko’kuu to give it to you has no lasting consequences in the Creche Y’llek, as it depends solely on roleplaying. The leading choice in the quest is whether to steal the egg for Lady Esther. She will become hostile if you refuse to bring back the egg or destroy it.
To get the reward for the Githyanki Egg you’re supposed to deliver, you can attack and defeat Lady Esther or take the egg directly to the Society of Brilliance by speaking with Omeluum in the Underdark. And that should cover everything about the Steal a Githyanki Egg quest in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you enjoyed this guide, we’ve plenty more similar guides on our Wiki Hub Page here.
