Tangledrift Ancient Obelisk is the last challenge we’ll cover as part of our 100% completion guide for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands area known as the Flower Tower. The Tangledrift Obelisk challenge is very accessible because you’ll need to deal with several Wyverns and defeat the Obsidian Wyvern boss. If you know how to approach these flying creatures, you’ll be able to finish the associated challenge in no time and get your hands on some Legendary Gear with a bit of luck.
Where To Find the Tangledrift Obelisk
The following map shows that the Tangledrift Ancient Obelisk arena is near the central town, also known as What’s Left of Driftwood.
This town unlocks playing the main quest in Tangledrift. To get to the Ancient Obelisk, you don’t have to finish any of the side-quests in Tangledrift, but you’ll need to cross a beanstalk to get to the marker on my map.
On your way towards What’s Left of Driftwood, don’t forget to get the Tangledrift Poetry Page; then, before starting the Obelisk challenge, you may also want to complete the Rune Switch since it’s pretty close. Great, so when you’re ready, find the Tangledrift Ancient Obelisk on the suspended island.
How To Complete the Ancient Obelisk Tangledrift Challenge
Regardless of when you approach the Tangledrift Ancient Obelisk and the difficulty level, you should consider switching to a weapon that inflicts ice damage. That’s because when you activate the Obelisk, you’ll have to defeat a lot of Wyverns. They come in various shapes and sizes, but ice damage is recommended since they are flying creatures.
By freezing them, you’ll be able to slow them down and turn them into ice cubes that will eventually fall to the ground. Since you are on an island, some of the Wyverns will fall into the abyss; thus, you’ll be able to kill them instantly.
If you take too much damage by any chance, you can opt to crouch and hide under the porch of the house nearby, avoiding being hit from above. When the Tangledrift Ancient Obelisk boss spawns, deal with the remaining mobs first, then focus on the Obsidian Wyvern.
Even if you’re playing this Obelisk on a higher Chaos Level, the Obsidian Wyvern will likely be weak to ice damage. This boss is a lot easier than other creatures you’ll encounter later in the game, and if you manage to defeat it, you have a chance to get the Red Hellion Shotgun, Joint Training Amulet, or Claw Armor.
These are Legendary pieces of gear, but obviously, your Loot Luck determines their drop rate. Remember that after you defeat the Obsidian Wyvern, you can replay the Tangledrift Ancient Obelisk as much as you want, but you’ll have to reset it by traveling to another region. Did you manage to get any legendaries from the Obsidian Wyvern? Let us know in the comments section below.
