Assassin’s Creed Mirage House of Wisdom Gear Chest Location Guide

Announced at Ubisoft Forward on September 10, 2022, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the thirteenth installment in the Assassin’s Creed series. The action-adventure stealth game was released on October 5, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Amazon Luna.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes place in 9th-century Baghdad and follows the story of Basim Ibn Ishaq, known from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Unlike its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Mirage features reduced RPG elements, focusing on parkour, close-quarter combat, and stealth gameplay.

Set decades before Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, AC Mirage allows players to help Basim evolve from a street thief to a Hidden One. While smaller in size, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a return to the AC series roots, allowing Basim to complete assassination missions throughout Baghdad, accompanied by his Eastern imperial eagle Enkidu. According to developers, the Assassin’s Creed Mirage main story takes 15-20 hours to complete, and it celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

While exploring the Abbasiyah District, you also have to get the House of Wisdom Gear Chest, which counts as one of the six Assassin’s Creed Mirage collectibles required to reach 100% completion in the western region of Baghdad. The AC Mirage House of Wisdom Gear Chest contains the Abbasid Knight Sword / Upgrade Schematic, but to get your hands on it, you’ll need to find the chest’s key.

Since the chest is on the roof of the House of Wisdom and because it is guarded by a lot of soldiers, it can be trickier to reach. Furthermore, the Gear Chest Key is also a bit hard to spot.

AC Mirage House of Wisdom Chest Location

The House of Wisdom Chest in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is on top of an impressive building in the northwestern corner of Abbasiyah. You can see the chest’s location marked on the following map so you can easily identify the landmark you’ll need to visit.

The Assassin’s Creed Mirage House of Wisdom Gear Chest is in the northwestern corner of Abbasiyah District.

To make the guide easier to follow, I recommend approaching the House of Wisdom from the east. Enter the building’s courtyard because it’s not a hostile area, then look around for a wooden platform near the northwestern wall. You can see the platform or the structure in my screenshot below, and you’ll need to climb on it to get to the roof.

The AC Mirage House of Wisdom Chest is in a tower on the roof.

Inside the tower marked in my screenshot above is the House of Wisdom Gear Chest; however, as mentioned above, to open it, you’ll need a key.

Where To Find the Assassin’s Creed Mirage House of Wisdom Chest Key

The key for the House of Wisdom Gear Chest in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is carried by a scientist found on the roof of the large landmark. To find the scientist from the location of the chest, you’ll have to reach the northeastern side of the roof, as shown below.

The Assassin’s Creed Mirage House of Wisdom Chest Key is carried by a merchant.

Remember that the NPC with the key is on top of the roof, so you don’t need to deal with the guards below. Furthermore, the scientist is not protected by any of the guards, and as you can see below, he is busy studying, which makes him an easy target for pickpocketing.

Get the Astronomical Library Key from the scientist.

After you get the Astronomical Library Key, head back to the tower (also visible in the screenshot above), but do not go inside just yet. Instead, use the lift by the entrance to get to the roof. Next, you’ll want to go around the balcony looking for a broken railing in front of a barred window.

Hit the chandelier's link through the barred window.

While standing near the broken railing, as pictured above, use one of Basim’s throwing knives to hit the red link (locker) on the chandelier inside the tower. When the chandelier falls to the ground, it will hit some explosive jars, thus creating a hole in the breakable floor.

Finally, return to the tower’s base, open the House of Wisdom locked door with the Astronomical Library Key you obtained, and use the bookshelves to ascend to the top floor where the Gear Chest awaits.
