Assassin’s Creed Mirage Mysterious Shards count as collectibles, and even if they don’t make too much sense early in the game, they grant access to some powerful gear you’ll be able to obtain for Basim.
There are 10 Mysterious Shards hidden in AC Mirage, and two are available in the Wilderness area. Alongside the remaining eight shards scattered in other districts, the Wilderness Mysterious Shards can be used to open three specific Wilderness Gear Chests.
So, if you wonder how to use the Mysterious Shards in AC Mirage, now you know that they are, in fact, keys to opening the underwater chests at the bottom of the lake west of Northern Oasis Viewpoint. The problem is that the Mysterious Shards are hard to spot because they don’t appear on your map early in the game.
Where To Find the Two Wilderness Mysterious Shards in AC Mirage
Since the Wilderness is the first area you’ll explore in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you’ll most likely want to know where to find the two Mysterious Shards collectibles. Before discussing their locations, however, it’s worth knowing that these shards won’t be available immediately after Basim’s training.
So, I recommend progressing the story to the point when you take care of Al-Ghul The Slaver. After you eliminate the target, you can start looking for the two Shards, which are also part of The Ancient Place main quest.
It’s also worth noting that the Mysterious Shards don’t have fixed locations like other AC Mirage collectibles. That’s because specific NPCs carry them. Luckily, they have fixed paths, so you won’t encounter any difficulties provided you check the locations below. Let’s see where to find the two Shards in the Wilderness region.
Mysterious Shard #1: In Jarjaraya
For the first Assassin’s Creed Mirage Mysterious Shard in the Wilderness, make sure you visit Jarjaraya, located southeast of Baghdad, as you can see on the map below.
After you synchronize the Viewpoint in the town, head back to the ground and look for an NPC wearing black clothes. Two soldiers guard him, and he constantly patrols the area west of the town center. After reaching the center of Jarjaraya, he usually heads west, outside the city, then returns to the town. You can see him below, and this specific character carries one of the Mysterious Shards.
How you deal with him depends on your playstyle. You can try to pickpocket the shard or kill him to obtain the collectible; however, make sure you are also ready to defeat his guards.
Mysterious Shard #2: West of Anbar
The second AC Mirage Wilderness Shard collectible is found west of Anbar, the town you explore during the prologue. Anbar is found on the northwestern side of the Wilderness, and the man carrying the shard patrols on the western bridge outside the city.
After you reach the bridge marked on the map above, wait for the man wearing black clothes and get ready to deal with his guards. Once you deal with him (pictured below), grab the shard he is carrying.
Great job! Now that you have the first shards, you can already open one of the three Northern Oasis Chests, but remember that you’ll need to find eight additional Shards collectibles for the remaining two.
