Assassin’s Creed Mirage Wilderness Gear Chest Locations Guide

Announced at Ubisoft Forward on September 10, 2022, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the thirteenth installment in the Assassin’s Creed series. The action-adventure stealth game was released on October 5, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Amazon Luna.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes place in 9th-century Baghdad and follows the story of Basim Ibn Ishaq, known from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Unlike its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Mirage features reduced RPG elements, focusing on parkour, close-quarter combat, and stealth gameplay.

Set decades before Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, AC Mirage allows players to help Basim evolve from a street thief to a Hidden One. While smaller in size, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a return to the AC series roots, allowing Basim to complete assassination missions throughout Baghdad, accompanied by his Eastern imperial eagle Enkidu. According to developers, the Assassin’s Creed Mirage main story takes 15-20 hours to complete, and it celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

The Wilderness is the first region you’ll get to explore in Assassin’s Creed Mirage after Basim completes his years of training, and if you spend enough time in the desert, you’ll be able to find your first Gear Chests containing the upgrade schematics for the Hidden One Dagger and Hidden One Sword.

Out of 30 AC Mirage Gear Chests, nine are found in the Wilderness region, and only two won’t be available when you cross this area for the first time. This means you can get 7 Gear Chests out of 9 available in the Wilderness without even entering Baghdad.

The Assassin’s Creed Mirage Wilderness Gear Chests count as collectibles, and they are similar to those in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, meaning that for some of them, you’ll need to complete some puzzles. Furthermore, they are required to get 100% completion in the first area alongside other collectibles.

Since the Wilderness is the largest area in the video game developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, I have divided the map into three parts to get a better view of the locations you’ll need to reach.

As you can see, most Wilderness Chests are found on the northern side, and only two are south of Baghdad.

Where To Find All Wilderness Gear Chests in AC Mirage

Following the same order as the one on the maps above, here is where to find the nine Gear Chests in the Wilderness region of AC Mirage. If by any chance you encounter difficulties in getting the chests or solving the associated puzzles, feel free to check our in-depth guides, also listed below.

Last but not least, three of the chests available in this region require you to find all Mysterious Shards in the game. These chests contain the most powerful gear in the game and will most likely be the last you’ll open.

Gear Chest:How To Get:
1.Access the underground enemy camp by performing a Leap of Faith when on top of the Dur-Kurigalzu Viewpoint. Follow the tunnels and break the wall of stones to get to the Dur-Kurigalzu Gear Chest.
2.Inside the locked tower north of Anbar Winter Palace. Throw a knife through the hole in the grated window to clear the entrance and collect the Anbar Tower Gear Chest.
3.Found inside a house in the Water Mill area. Remove the anvil blocking the movable shelf to get inside the house. The key to opening the Watermill Gear Chest is found underwater. Look for it at the bottom of the southeastern aqueduct.
4.To get the Gear Chest in Abandoned Caravanserai, you have to carry a red explosive jug to the backyard and blow up the breakable wall made of stones.
5.The AC Mirage Southern Camp Gear Chest is found inside the enemy camp. It doesn’t require a key, and it doesn’t involve a puzzle, but you’ll have to sneak up to get it. I recommend approaching the camp from the west and using the hole in the fence to get inside without alerting the guards.
6.The Spymaster’s Camp Gear Chest is found in a treehouse. After arriving at the location marked on the map above, you’ll find a dig site. Use the withered tree branches above the dig site to get to the treehouse.
7-9.The Northern Oasis Gear Chests require you to swim through the underwater tunnel and reach a Secret Room with three pedestals. Each pedestal requires a specific number of Mysterious Shards, found by killing the NPCs wearing black robes. There is a total of 10 Shards in the game, and you’ll need all of them to open the three chests.
