Resident Evil 8 Village Castle Dimitrescu Hall of Ablution Statues Puzzle is mandatory while playing the video game developed by Capcom, and solving it is the only way to progress through the story and continue your journey and Ethan’s search for Rose.
The Castle Dimitrescu Statues Puzzle is quite accessible; however, a lot of players asked me how to solve it, so below we will talk about this puzzle or riddle if you want, and obviously, I’ll tell you how to deal with these four statues or how to rotate them in order to continue your journey in Castle Dimitrescu. But first, let’s see how to get to the Hall of Ablution in Resident Evil 8 Village.
How To Enter the Hall of Ablution
If you remember from my Castle Dimitrescu collectibles guide, the Hall of Ablution can be reached via the southern door in the Courtyard once you exit the Dining Room on the first floor (1F). This is done by following the game’s plot and using a Key Item known as Sanguis Virginis. It is obtained from the Kitchen once you deal with one of Dimitrescu’s daughters. The said Key Item is by the table, and you can see it below.

Now, with this bottle of wine, you have to retrace your steps back to the Wine Room on the second floor (2F) via the Main Hall. In the Wine Room, you’ll have to place the Resident Evil Village Sanguis Virginis bottle on the Silver Flower Bottle Stand to obtain the Courtyard Key.
Next, you’ll return to the Dining Room, open the door, and cross the Castle Dimitrescu Courtyard, moving towards the southern door. Inside the southern wing of the castle, follow the stairs up, and you’ll find the Hall of Ablution close to Dimitrescu’s Chambers. It’s on the left side down the corridor. Once you enter the Resident Evil 8 Village Hall of Ablution, you’ll see four statues, and the puzzle begins.
Hall of Ablution Statues Puzzle Solution
To solve the four RE8 Village Hall of Ablution Statues Puzzle, the first thing you’ll want to do is to read the plaque on the other side of the round pool in the middle of the room.
You can see it pictured below, and it reads: “Women are blind to male advances, but the poor shall take their chance to give their lord their bounty sown, so that soon the wine may flow”.

Good, now the next step is to take a closer look at the statues. When you do that, you’ll see that they depict the following:
- A fancy lady with a hat
- Next to her is another woman with a bottle in hand
- To the left, you can see a lord on a horse or a horseman if you want
- Finally, we have three beggars
Awesome, now let’s see how to decipher this puzzle using the text on the plaque.
What Do Women Are Blind To Male Advances Mean
The Women are blind to male advances part of the text in Resident Evil 8 Village is the most important tip in this puzzle. It means that none of the two women in the room, or the statues, are facing males. Basically, this simple text tells you how to rotate the lady and the woman with the bottle. Since they are not facing males, it means that they face each other. So, turn the statue depicting the woman with a bottle to the right so the woman faces the lady with the hat.

Now, using the same part of the text, you can figure out how to position the lady’s statue. As said, both women ignore the males, so the lady must face the woman. This means that you’ll have to rotate the statue to the left.

Great, so now that you know how to rotate the first two statues in Castle Dimitrescu Hall of Ablution, let’s see what the text tells us next.
What Does the Poor Shall Take Their Chance To Give Their Lord Their Bounty Sown Mean
This part of the text is easier to decipher. The poor, or the beggars’ statue, carries a purse of money, as you can see. According to the text, they are giving it to their lord or the horseman. So, simply rotate the statue showing the three beggars towards the man on the horse. Or to the right if you want.

What Does So That Soon the Wine May Flow Mean
The last part of the text reveals the correct position of the lord, and it’s connected to the previous one. Simply put, the beggars give the money to the man on the horse so he can use it to get the wine, obviously from the lady with the bottle.
Since when you reach the Hall of Ablution, the man on the horse already faces the lady with the bottle; you won’t have to do anything because this step is already completed.

This means that the moment you rotate the statue with the three beggars, the pool in the middle of the room will empty, revealing a new path toward the Distillery.
