Resident Evil 8 Village Moreau’s Gatehouse is the fourth area you can explore on your way to the third boss in the video game developed by Capcom, and also one of the richest when it comes to hidden items as it includes 4 Collectibles, a Treasure Item, and a Cooking Ingredient.

The Resident Evil Village Gatehouse is reached after the events that occur inside the cave you visit during the boat ride, so basically, Ethan gets to the Gatehouse automatically. Once you get there, you’ll goal is to activate the Sluice Gate Controls, and below I’ll tell you how to do that and how to find all items in the process.

This area, which is on the southern side of the Reservoir, is reached automatically. Assuming you collected all Boat House hidden items (including those in the Reservoir Cave) when you enter the tent on the dock in the said cave, you’ll trigger a cutscene. After the events that occur in the tent, Ethan wakes up on the other side of the Reservoir. This area is known as the Gatehouse.

The good thing about this section of the Reservoir is that you don’t have to pay another visit because the game takes you here automatically. Keep following the order below so you don’t miss anything.

Outhouse & Chem Fluid

The very moment you enter Moreau’s Gatehouse, you’ll see a console with a diagram and the Sluice Gate Controls. Ignore those for now because you need to power up the console first. So, head outside through the door in the lobby, and when you exit, turn right. Go around the house to find the Outhouse in my image below. Open it to get the Chem Fluid inside.

Changing The Cranks Collectible

After the previous collectible, head up the hill following the northeastern path. The moment you get to the top, you’ll see a Windmill and a truck. Inspect the truck’s seat to find a file. This one is named Changing the Cranks, and it’s a Collectible you’ll want to read.

Good, so now that you have all the items on this side of the hill, turn around, and you’ll see a rather large mill.

Head there, and while facing it, turn left. Outside, around this Mill, on the crates below, you’ll find some Handgun Ammo.

Goat Of Warding

The next item you don’t want to miss here is a Goat of Warding. This one is basically located several steps away from the previous barrel, in front of some logs. It’s hard to spot because of its color. Make sure you destroy it.

Awesome job! Now that you have collected all Resident Evil 8 Village Moreau’s Gatehouse items, use the ladder in the Mill nearby to get to the ground floor, then head towards the Drowned Houses area using the roofs.

Remember that you’ll return here after you power up the Sluice Gate Console so you can release the water. The game will bring you back after the Drowned Houses section, so follow this guide if you need help. When it does, you’ll have to solve a small puzzle.

Reservoir Sluice Gate Controls Puzzle Solution

Basically, all you need to do is push a series of buttons so their colors match those from the diagram. Here is the solution to this puzzle. As a hint, make sure you rotate the diagram and use the broken light (black button) as your pointer. The solution to this puzzle is this:

  • Top Row: Blue, White, Red
  • Middle Row: White, Red, Black (Broken)
  • Bottom Row: Red, Blue Blue

You can see it below.

Keep in mind that in order to change the color of a button, you have to push it several times. Once you start the console, pull the lever, and you’ll drain the Reservoir. Now, head outside and start following Moreau to reach the next area, which is Moreau’s Clinic.
