Bestial Sanctum is a key location you’ll get to explore in the northeastern corner of Caelid upon crossing Farum Greatbridge in Elden Ring. Besides the fact that here you’ll get to meet Gurranq Beast Clergyman, following D’s questline, the Elden Ring Bestial Sanctum also features a secret area where you can find the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman and the Cinquedea.

This means that it’s mandatory to carefully explore the Bestial Sanctum temple, and throughout the guide below, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about it.

Where To Find Bestial Sanctum

Bestial Sanctum, as you can see on my map below, is found on the northeastern coast of Caelid.

Elden Ring Bestial Sanctum Location Guide

It is worth mentioning that usually, this temple is reached after talking to D Hunter of the Dead because he’ll send you to this location to find Gurranq and feed him a Deathroot. You should also know that in front of the Bestial Sanctum, you’ll find a boss named Black Blade Kindred; however, you can avoid him and get inside a temple.

If you’re interested in fighting the Black Blade Kindred and manage to defeat him, he’ll drop the Gargoyle’s Black Halberd and the Gargoyle’s Blackblade. Obviously, you can get in the Bestial Sanctum before starting the said questline, and if you have a Deathroot, give it to Gurranq.

Once you do that, he’ll ask for more, so he’ll become some sort of a trader. This means that whenever you get a Deathroot, you’ll have to visit Gurranq and feed him.

Gurranq Beast Clergyman Rewards

During your adventure, you’ll be able to find more than one Deathroot, and Gurranq rewards you with various items.

Elden Ring Bestial Sanctum Gurranq Hostile

Here is what you can get from Gurranq in Elden Ring:

  • Clawmark Seal & Beast Eye – After bringing a Deathroot
  • Bestial Sling – Received after the second Deathroot
  • Bestial Vitality – For the third Deathroot
  • Beast’s Roar – Reward for the fourth Deathroot
  • Beast Claw – Unlocked by the fifth Deathroot
  • Stone of Gurranq – Trade reward for the sixth Deathroot
  • Beastclaw Greathammer – Gurranq’s seventh Deathroot reward
  • Gurranq’s Beast Claw – Received for the eighth Deathroot
  • Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone – Awarded for the ninth Deathroot

An interesting aspect worth outlining is that Gurranq becomes hostile after bringing him the fourth Deathroot. When this happens, you’ll have to fight and subdue him; then, he’ll return to his usual location. If this doesn’t happen, look for him outside and consider resting at the Site of Grace.

Now, if you look around inside the Bestial Sanctum, you’ll notice that it’s pretty empty. Except that is not, and you’ll need to find a secret area. So, let’s get you to the lower levels, where you can find the secret Elden Ring Bestial Sanctum items.

How To Get the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman and Cinquedea

Your starting location is in front of the Bestial Sanctum. While facing the door leading inside, head left, and while standing on the edge of the mountain, before reaching the citadel’s walls, take a closer look at the area below.

Elden Ring Bestial Sanctum Secret Area

The screenshot above shows the approximate location you need to find. From this spot, if you look down, you should be able to see a rather large root (pictured below).

Drop on the root, then head left and drop on the next one. Next, slowly walk to the other side and drop on the round roof below. Here, you’ll want to summon Torrent and jump all the way down. From here, feel free to check the large roof, but return to the same location, which is near the first pillar.

Go around the large pillar, and you’ll see a small bridge. While standing on it, look down again, and you’ll see a ledge like the one in my screenshot below.

Drop on it (you’ll take damage here), then summon Torrent and jump on the ledge close to the Sanctum’s exterior wall. Now, while mounted, jump on the roof below (once again, you’ll take damage).

When you get to the second layer, feel free to explore the large roof for some extra loot, then return to the same pillar as before because you have one additional layer left. As you can see below, there is one small ledge you can jump on from the current roof.

From here, you’ll want to jump on the ledge near the Sanctum’s exterior wall in the following screenshot.

While standing on the ledge in my screenshot above, summon Torrent, then drop and push yourself against the wall, aiming for the small ledge I have marked below. The idea here is to make your fall as less painful as possible.

Now, you should be on the third layer, where the items are waiting for you. The first one you can get is the Cinquedea, which sits on a balcony on the left side of the roof you’re standing on. Simply go around the Sanctum to see it.

Last but not least, you can get the Elden Ring Dragoncrest Shield Talisman from a corpse sitting on the Bestial Sanctum’s third roof, several steps away from the Cinquedea.

You can see it in my screenshot above, and once you get it, all you need to do is fast-travel to another location. So, did you manage to find the Elden Ring Bestial Sanctum secret area? Let us know in the comments section below.
