Elden Ring Gowry’s Unalloyed Gold Needle Item Guide

Elden Ring Gowry’s quest or task can be triggered in the Caelid area and requires you to find the Unalloyed Gold Needle, a key item that can save Milicent. The Elden Ring Gowry’s Unalloyed Gold Needle and the task you must complete is a bit complicated unless you follow several steps to get the most out of it.

Therefore, below, we’ll tell you how to complete Gowry’s Task, find the Elden Ring Unalloyed Gold Needle, and access Gowry’s shop because he is a Sage who can teach you several spells. Furthermore, we’ll go over Milicent’s location and how to use Sellia’s Secret key item.

Where To Find Gowry’s Shack

In the video game developed by FromSoftware for PC, Xbox, and Playstation, Gowry’s Shack is a landmark found just north of Sellia Gateway. You can see it on the map below, and you can access it while riding north from the Southern Aeonia Swamp Bank Site of Grace.

As you ride through the large gate south of the shack, on the right side of the road, you’ll see a glowing message on the ground, left by Gowry, asking you to stop by his shack. The shack in question is several steps away from the sign on the road, as you can see in my screenshot.

Now, head to Gowry’s Shack, and inside, you’ll find Gowry, an NPC similar to a monk. But in fact, he is a Sorcerer or a Sage. Make sure you approach the NPC and talk to him until he asks you to help him.

Accept Gowry’s request, and he’ll tell you about Milicent, a young girl he saved in the past. Unfortunately, Milicent is affected by the rot, and while he can’t save her, he can ease her pain. But for this, he needs the Unalloyed Gold Needle. So your job is to get the said Golden Needle.

Where To Find the Unalloyed Gold Needle

The Elden Ring Unalloyed Gold Needle is west of Gowry’s Shack in Aeonia Swamp, but it is carried by a boss named Commander O’Neil. You can see Commander O’Neil’s location in the game, marked on my map. Before approaching him, make sure you rest at the closest Site of Grace and get ready to face the large boss.

Commander O’Neil is extremely slow, but what makes him so powerful are the mobs he summons as ghosts. Consider focusing on the mobs first, then on the boss. Since you’ll be fighting in a large area, you can use your horse, so stay mobile and take out the ghosts the boss summons.

First, he’ll summon archers, followed by soldiers; however, you should be able to take him out relatively fast due to his speed. When this happens, he’ll drop the Unalloyed Gold Needle and the Commander’s Standard.

Additionally, you’ll activate the Heart of Aeonia Site of Grace. The problem is that the Elden Ring Unalloyed Golden Needle you get from him is broken. At this point, you’ll want to return to Gowry and see what he has to say about this.

How To Use Commander O’Neil’s Unalloyed Golden Needle

When you get to the Sage, show him Commander O’Neil’s Needle, and he’ll offer you Sellia’s Secret, a key item we’ll discuss below.

Now, you’ll want to talk to him again, and he’ll tell you that he can fix the needle, but he needs time. What you want to do next is rest, but you should do it at the Church of the Plague (northeast of Gowry’s Shack). Inside this church, you’ll find Milicent.

If you did not explore the church before finding the quest-giver, you can see Milicent’s location below, but be advised that you have to follow the path north of Sellia City to get there.

Upon resting at the Church of The Plague, return to Gowry, and he’ll give you the repaired needle.

How To Save Milicent

With the repaired Unalloyed Needle in your inventory, head back to Milicent in Church of the Plague and give it to her. When you do this, she’ll use it but faint, and now you’ll have to wait again. Rest at the Site of Grace in the church and pass the time, then you’ll see Milicent waking up. Talk to her, and she’ll give you the Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom Talisman in my screenshot below.

Additionally, Milicent tells you that she intends to take a journey, which leads to the idea that Gowry’s questline ends here. But it’s not.

How To Access Sage Gowry’s Shop

After you heal Milicent, get to a Site of Grace close to Gowry’s Shack and rest, then head back to the hut to find Milicent looking for the old Sage. Talk to her, and she’ll tell you that she wanted to thank him before leaving.

Now, go back to the Site of Grace and rest one last time before returning to Gowry’s Shack. This time around, you’ll find Gowry, not Milicent. Talk to him, and you’ll be able to buy several spells from the Old Sorcerer.

One last thing worth outlining is how to use Sellia’s Secret you get from Gowry. Basically, this note tells you that you have to light three candles to break the seals on the towers around Sellia City.

Each tower has a candle on top, and by lighting them, you’ll remove the barriers on the three towers, gaining access to even more items you may need for the journey ahead.
