Elden Ring Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs is an optional dungeon in the Consecrated Snowfield area of Mountaintops of the Giants region and home for the Putrid Grave Warden Duelist boss. The Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs are filled with Imps and guarded by Cleanrot Knights, who are ready to halt the enemies from entering their halls.
Also, beware of the Erdtree Burial Watchdogs, who are on the lookout for intruders to jump on. In this guide, we will show you how to explore the Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs, collect all the loot, and reach the boss chamber in the video game developed by FromSoftware.
Where To Find the Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs
The Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs can be found by exploring the sub-eastern region’s area, which is located among the eastern cliffs of the Consecrated Snowfields.
The Consecrated Snowfield is a secret area on the lower plains of the Mountaintops of the Giants that can only be reached by using the Grand Lift of Rold after collecting the Haligtree Medallion (Left) and Haligtree Medallion (Right) (Right).
From the Grand Lift of Rold, follow the road north, then east, then explore the cliffs in Consecrated Snowfield to find the Catacombs.
After ascending the steps from the Site of Grace, the first room is an additional set of stairs with a 90-degree turn and a massive pit on the side (you will perish if you fall into the pit).
There is one Imp at the curve of the stairs that can catch you off guard; make sure you don’t fall off during this encounter. The corridor at the top of the stairs has a frost-breathing statue trap at its end and will cause damage and Frostbite if it hits you.
From here, you have two choices:
- Use a bow/crossbow or a ranged attack that can hit the statue that far to disable it.
- Time your steps and move between the alcoves on the sides of the corridor (one right and one left) to reach the statue to melee hit it and disable it.
Around the corner on the left alcove is an imp waiting to ambush you. Get behind the Imp while fighting to avoid getting hit by the frost-breathing statue if you don’t disable it. This left path will take you to the catacombs’ locked doors and further into the Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs.
The room with the frost-breathing statue trap is a dead end; jump onto the statue to be lifted to the ledge above, where an imp is ready to ambush you. At the top, you will find a corpse lying in front of a tomb, holding a Rejuvenating Boluses. After passing the locked doors, there are stairs leading up and another frost statue breathing down the doorway at the top.
This room is a big hall with three floors that can be seen in this room with the lever for the locked door found on the third floor and a tall frost-breathing statue trap. On the right at the entrance, there is an Imp, as well as an Erdtree Burial Watchdog wielding a staff on the second floor who will jump down to ambush you.
Watch out for his powerful jump attacks because they can easily 1-hit you if you don’t have enough HP. Take advantage of the frost-breathing statue trap to defeat it.
Also, hitting the frost-breathing statue trap lowers it; however, instead of turning off the breath, the now-lowered statue will breathe the icy breath down the corridors going out of the room. On the left side of this room, you will find a corpse holding 4x Root Rosin and a corridor leading to a dead-end room.
Inside the room, you will encounter four Imps, a Grave Glovewort [9] to collect, and another Grave Glovewort [8] in the corridor between. In the room on the right, you will encounter two imps, one around the corner ready to ambush you and one up the stairs prepared to throw knives.
Heading up the stairs leads to a dead-end room with an Erdtree Burial Watchdog wielding a sword sitting over a body with the Imp Head (Elder), as well as a Grave Glovewort [9] and a Grave Violet. After you collect everything in the dead-end room, under the stairs, you will find a pathway leading to the next room of the Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs.
Here, you will find a Cleanrot Knight patrolling the room, as well as a Grave Glovewort [8] to collect.
Walk slowly on the next set of stairs; if you see the frost-breathing statue trap raised, it will spray icy breath as soon as you reach the top of them. Trigger the trap and avoid getting hit; then, as soon as the breathing stops, hit it to lower it.
Also, beware of the Imp at the top of the stairs, around the corner, ready to ambush you. On the left side of this floor, there is a Grave Glovewort [9] as well as a dead-end room with 2 Cleanrot Knights within and a Ghost Glovewort [9] to collect.
Before getting into this room and taking your chance to collect the Grave Glovewort [9], follow the next step and then return here. Jump on top of the frost-breathing statue trap and hit to raise it to the third floor of the room to find the lever and open the heavy locked doors.
Also, collect the Grave Glovewort [9] and loot the corpse to receive a Golden Rune [12], found adjacent to the lever.
Once you are done, you can return to the dead-end room with the two Cleanrot Knights and grab the Grave Glovewort [9] if you haven’t already.
Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs Boss Fight
The boss of the Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs is the Putrid Grave Warden Duelist, wielding a large axe with two hands, rushing after his prey while twirling his axe.
Using Spirit Ashes can make this boss much easier to deal with because the ashes’ additional strikes can interrupt the boss’ slow attacks, making the fight much safer and easier.
After defeating the Putrid Grave Warden Duelist, you will receive 78.000 Runes, 2x Great Grave Glovewort, and the Rotten Gravekeeper Cloak.
