Church of Vows is an important place in Elden Ring since it is where you may atone for your sins – undo any relationship alterations you made by accidentally striking a friendly NPC when you shouldn’t have.
The Church of Vows is home to Miriel, Pastor of Vows, a giant turtle-like creature, the guardian of the church. The following guide contains all the information you need to help you find the Church of Vows and what lies within.
Where To Find the Church Of Vows
In order to reach the Church of Vows, you must first clear or bypass Stormveil Castle and enter the Liurnia of the Lakes Region in the game developed by FromSoftware. The Church of Vows is found on the eastern side of Liurnia of the Lakes.
If your starting point is the Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace, head north and stay on the right side of the lake. You will reach the Eastern Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace, and from there, follow the road that leads you up to the north. Place a beacon on your map over the location of the Church of Vows, making it easier to track.
Miriel, Pastor of Vows
When you arrive at the church, you are welcomed by Miriel, Pastor of Vows and guardian of the church.
He will share his knowledge of Sorceries, Incantations, and Lore related to Rennala, Queen of the full Moon, and Lord Radagon. Miriel will tell you about the church’s history, including how the great houses of Erdtree and the moon were united at the church.
Also, you can study Sorceries and Incantations with Miriel and expand his library by giving Sorcery Scrolls and Incantation Tomes to him (for example, Academy Scroll, Godskin Prayerbook, Royal House Scroll, Conspectus Scroll, Firemonks’ Prayerbook, Assassins’ Prayerbook, etc.)
Lady Rennala Statue
A statue of Lady Rennala stands out in the church’s center. You can interact with the statue as an “Atone” option appears.
Offering a “Celestial Dew” consumable to the statue can result in reviving a number of the game’s NPCs, and resurrected NPCs will also forget any hostility they may have had towards you. The only problem is that not all NPCs can be resurrected this way (Traveling or Isolated Merchants can’t be resurrected).
If you haven’t killed any NPCs, a message will prompt saying, “You don’t need absolution” when you try to atone. Also, to the statue’s right, you will find a chest containing the Gold Sewing Needle and the Golden Tailoring Tools.
Once you have obtained the Gold Sewing Needle, you can use it to modify demigod armor pieces at any Site of Grace. Later in the game, you may also give it to Boc as part of his questline.
Bell Bearing Hunter Invasion
Also, a Bell Bearing Hunter can be found inside the Church of Vows east of Liurnia of the Lakes. This boss only spawns at night. The quickest way to spawn the boss is to rest at the site of grace in front of the church, advance time to night, then rest again.
You must enter the church to make him spawn. After you defeat him, you will receive the Meat Peddler’s Bell Bearing. Meat Peddler’s Bell Bearing can be used to gain access to the following items when offered to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold:
- Sliver of Meat
- Lump of Flesh
- Turtle Neck Meat
