Elden Ring Chelona’s Rise Great Wise Beasts Puzzle Guide

Elden Ring Chelona’s Rise is a landmark found on the Moonlight Altar plateau, high above the southwest of Liurnia of the Lakes. To access the Moonlight Altar region, you will need to make substantial progress in Ranni The Witch’s quest, up to the point where you kill Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, in the Grand Cloister and obtain access to the lift in the Deep Ainsel Well, which goes up to the plateau.

Throughout this guide, we will show you where you can find Chelona’s Rise and the three great wise beasts to unlock the treasure waiting inside. 

Where To Find Chelona’s Rise

You can find Chelona’s Rise on the southwesternmost point of Liurnia’s Moonlight Altar region.

Starting from the Moonlight Altar Site of Grace and following the path marked on the map, you will not have any trouble defeating any enemies to reach Chelona’s Rise. Upon reaching Chelona’s Rise, you will notice the entrance is sealed by a magical barrier like we’ve seen before in Tetsu’s Rise Tower and Oridys’s Rise Tower.

An Imp Statue holds a glowing book by the entryway, telling you to “Seek three great wise beasts.”

The Great Wise Beasts mentioned in the book are giant ghostly turtles, which you must locate and attack. Unlike other towers we completed before, these turtles are scattered across the entire plateau. Therefore, the map below shows all three locations for the great wise beast we are looking for.

NOTE: Do not fast travel or rest while looking for the turtles; you will reset the puzzle, and the turtles you have not killed will despawn until you examine the statue again

Great Wise Beast #1

You can find the first turtle directly west of the tower, hanging to the cliff.

You can quickly kill it with a ranged attack (bow or pebble).

Great Wise Beast #2

You can find the second turtle far to the east, south of Lunar Estate Ruins.

Head to the plateau’s edge and look down to find the turtle sitting on a lower cliff. You can either jump down to kill it or use a ranged attack (bow).

Great Wise Beast #3

The last turtle may be seen flying high above the southeast of Ringleader’s Evergaol.

There is a Spiritspring nearby from which you may jump with Torrent and knock down the turtle.

Chelona’s Rise Chest Reward

Once you have killed all three turtles, you will be notified that the seal has been opened. You can fast-travel back to the Altar South Site of Grace and make your way up to the tower.

At the top, you will find a chest containing Ranni’s Dark Moon Sorcery, one of the most devastating spells in FromSoftware’s game, dealing a lot of damage if you hit the target.
