Elden Ring Gatefront Ruins is the second Limgrave landmark or location you’ll want to visit after finding the Church of Elleh. Although it may seem a bit difficult to approach because of the soldiers that protect this location, Gatefront Ruins can help you a lot early in the game, being a location where you can easily farm XP and learn most combat moves.
On top of this, Gatefront Ruins features some essential items you’ll want to retrieve, and the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace unlocks the Leveling-Up Option. So, here is how to complete the Gatefront Ruins location in Elden Ring and where to find all important items or loot.
Where To Find the Gatefront Ruins
As you can see on the map below, Gatefront Ruins is found northeast of the Church of Elleh.

You can quickly get there on foot, and in fact, this is the second location you’ll want to visit after you activate the Church of Elleh Site of Grace. Once you do this, you’ll want to head to the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace, found several steps away from the Gatefront Ruins.
By activating this specific Site of Grace, you’ll unlock the Leveling Up by talking to Melina below.
Accept her help, then from the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace, return to the Church of Elleh Site of Grace to meet Rena and get the Spirit Calling Bell and Lone Wolf Ashes. Here you can see Rena.

Now, you’ll want to fast travel back to Agheel Lake North Site of Grace because it’s time to deal with the soldiers in the camp.
Before doing so, make sure you equip the Spirit Calling Bell and know how to use it.
Where To Find All Gatefront Ruins Items
As mentioned above, the Gatefront Ruins is one of the spots where you can farm XP early in the game, mainly because the Side of Grace is close to the camp you are about to clear. Start with the soldiers that roam around the camp, and use the XP you get to increase your hero’s stats.
Next, use the Side of Grace to rest, and the enemies will respawn. You can summon three wolves to distract the enemies since you already have the Spirit Bell and the Lone Wolf Ashes. If done properly, you can level up at least ten times; then, you can deal with the Godrick Knight mini-boss.
Now, without insisting on each soldier in this camp and on the common items (plants mostly), here are the items you should retrieve from this location. As you move north towards the gate, on the right side of the camp is a large cart. Deal with the soldier nearby, then open the chest on the back of the cart to obtain a Flail.

Next, head toward the center of the camp, and you’ll see a large pillar. Make sure you interact with it because it contains the Map Limgrave West Fragment, and it will reveal the current area on your map. If you need help with the rest of them (there’s a total of 3), check out this guide.

Now, you’ll want to cross the brick road heading south. On the right side, you’ll see a small hill and a yellow tent. If you look around, you can notice a corpse (pictured) with some glowing items nearby. There are three Ruin Fragments you can use from your inventory to gain XP.

Next, you’ll want to check the small cellar in the middle of the camp. You can access it via the stairs pictured below, and when you enter, you’ll see just a small room with a chest inside.

There are no traps here, so loot the chest to get a Whetstone Knife and the Ash of War: Storm Stomp. If you don’t know how to use them, we’ve got you covered, and you can learn here.
The last two items worth getting here are pretty straightforward. The first is the Godrick Helm, which drops from the Godrick Knight mini-boss, which carries an impressive lance. The second and final Gatefront Ruins item of interest you should get in this area is the Lordsworn’s Greatsword found inside a chest.

As you can see, the said chest is in the back of another cart close to the road as you move north toward the large gate.
