Elden Ring Stormfoot Catacombs is a dungeon you can find and explore in the Limgrave area of the video game developed by FromSoftware. Unlike Coastal Cave, which we thoroughly covered earlier, the Elden Ring Stormfoot Catacombs dungeon is a bit more complicated but comes with better loot.
Full of traps and imps, the Stormfoot Catacombs dungeon also includes an Erdtree Burial Watchdog Boss you’ll need to defeat. On top of this, you’ll get ambushed quite often, and you’ll need to deal with the two Stormfoot Catacombs fire traps that will most likely end your exploration before reaching the end.
Where To Find the Stormfoot Catacombs
On the map below, you can see that the Stormfoot Catacombs dungeon is found northwest of the Church of Elleh and north of Coastal Cave.
You can enter the dungeon via a wooden door found on the mountain wall; however, before doing this (especially early in the game), you’ll want to buy a Torch from Merchant Kalé at the Church of Elleh.
As an Astrologer, you’ll also want to get the Meteorite Staff, as it will help you during the Boss fight. Last but not least, regardless of your class, you’ll want to unlock the Spirit Calling Bell and the Lone Wolf Ashes.
How To Get Inside the Stormfoot Catacombs
When you are ready, find the massive door on the mountain wall pictured below.
As you can see, it is on the lower section, but you should know that some interesting items also await on top of the ruins above. For now, let’s focus on the actual Stormfoot Dungeon, and once you get inside, activate the Stormfoot Catacombs Site of Grace. Next, you’ll want to descend the stairs and talk to the ghost sitting on the chair on the right side.
Now, the fun starts, and from the location where you found the ghost, you’ll want to check the room ahead. In the middle of the room, you’ll find a Root Resin on the ground; however, you’ll also be ambushed by two enemies. One is straight ahead (pictured below), while the other is on the left side, around the corner.
While not dangerous in close combat, the imps inside the dungeon can quickly put your hero down since they ambush you, and every attack applies bleed damage. Because of their colors, they are also pretty hard to spot, but you should know that they are everywhere, even on walls.
So start by dealing with the two in my screenshot, then retrace your steps and follow the corridor on the left side, descending the stairs. As you descend the stairs, on the right side, you’ll find some Grave Glovewort, and in front of you is a large door.
The Stormfoot Catacomb locked door won’t open unless you find a lever, and behind it is the dungeon’s Boss. For now, head left, but be advised that there are two imps on the balcony in the following area.
Deal with them, then loot all items here (mostly herbs), then head through the tunnel in front of you. You’ll have to be very careful on the other side because there is one imp hanging on the wall, on the right side. You can see it below, and it can kill you quite fast if you don’t pay attention.
Once you deal with this one, you’ll have to figure out how to disable two fire traps.
How To Disable the Fire Traps
The Elden Ring Stormfoot Catacombs Fire Traps are deadly and quite hard to disable unless you know what to do. There are two of them, and both must be disabled, but the good thing is that once disabled, a Fire Trap won’t be activated even if you die. So, what you have to do next is to pay attention to the fire in the first tunnel, and the moment it disappears, you have to run (even roll) toward the corridor on the right side (pictured below).
Take cover in the corner, then wait for the trap ahead to fire once more, then head towards it when the fire disappears. Hit the gargoyle heads to disable the first Stormfoot Catacombs Dungeon Fire Trap the moment you get close. Now, you’ll want to get around the trap to pillage the corpse and get the Prattling Pate “Hello,” which is an item you can use.
Now, you’ll want to retrace your steps to the other tunnel where the second trap is found. The idea here is the same, meaning that you’ll want to take cover on the right side, then rush towards the trap and disable it.
After the second Stormfoot Catacombs Fire Trap is disabled, again, you’ll want to check the area behind it, but be extra careful because there are five imps here, two of them on the wall.
Once you’ve dealt with them, loot the Ghost Glovewort and Smoldering Butterfly from the corpse and retrace your steps back to the tunnel where you took cover earlier. On the other side, you should see a ladder.
How To Open the Stormfoot Catacombs Locked Door
As you climb to the second floor, you’ll see an imp in front of you, but a second one is around the left corner. Deal with them and then head towards the other side, where two additional imps await.
One is in front of you, and the other is hidden around the corner on the right side. From this room, you’ll want to retrieve the Wandering Nobles Ashes from the corpse next to the coffin.
After you clear the room, it’s time to open the Locked Stormfoot Catacombs Door, where the Boss awaits, and this is done by finding a lever. To get to it, retrace your steps to the previous room and turn right to see a balcony you can drop on. Go around it, and you’ll see the lever on the right side as well as one last imp.
Pull the lever, then drop to the ground floor and follow the stairs up. On the left side is the door leading to the Erdtree Burial Watchdog Boss; however, it is a good idea to visit the Site of Grace to restock on health and mana. Now, your objective is to deal with the Erdtree Burial Watchdog.
How To Defeat the Erdtree Burial Watchdog Boss
The Erdtree Burial Watchdog Boss is funny because it jumps around and deals damage in a circle. As an Astrologer, you’ll most likely nuke him pretty fast, especially if you summon your wolves to keep him busy while you cast your spells.
The trick here is to stay mobile as much as possible, and as a melee class, you’ll want to attack the moment the Erdtree Burial Watchdog casts his fire spells. Obviously, from behind because he is pretty slow.
Other than this, this Boss is very accessible even early in the game. Once you defeat him, you’ll receive the Noble Sorcerer Ashes; however, there is one last item you should get here. This one is found outside on top of the ruins, as you can see below.
Get the Crossed Legs Gesture by climbing the tower on top of the dungeon, and the Elden Ring Stormfoot Catacombs are complete; however, only several steps west of the catacombs, you’ll find the Limgrave beach running ghost.
