Elden Ring Jar Bairn Quest Guide

Jar Bairn is a small living jar NPC who can be found sitting on top of some stairs in Jarburg, a village of small living jars in Liurnia of the Lakes Region of Elden Ring. Jar Bairn’s Quest is tightly linked with Alexander Iron Fist, who can be located in Limgrave, and Diallos, the Jon Snow doppelganger first discovered in Roundtable Hold.

Throughout this guide, we will explain where you can find the Jar Bairn NPC and complete his quest in the game developed by FromSoftware.

Where To Find Jar Bairn

Jar Bairn can be found in Jarburg, on the east side of the Liurnia of the Lakes region.

To quickly get there, fast travel to the Gate Town Bridge Site of Grace located southeast of Raya Lucaria Academy. Ride up the north slope, then cross over to the cliff to the east, directly south of the Carian Study Hall. Look over the cliff’s edge for the stone slabs (they look like tombstones) that you can jump on.

Make your way to the bottom using your horse. The Site of Grace should be visible on the ground near a house. Once you’ve reached the ground, activate the Jarburg Site of Grace. Jar Bairn can be found just to the north, on the stairs, in front of a stone house.

Jar Bairn Dialogue Choices

Speak with Jar-Bairn, and he will ask if you want to be the new Potentate.

The questline begins when you select “I’ll be your Potentate,” but if you say “I’m no Potentate”, the quest won’t start, and you can talk to him again if you change your mind.

After you have exhausted the dialogue, reload the area – either fast travel or rest at the Site of Grace nearby, and talk to him again. He will first ask you if you noticed the rare flowers growing in this village.

Pick up as many flowers as you can around the village, reload the area, and talk to Jar Bairn again. This time, he will tell you about his uncle, Alexander Iron Fist, who left the village to be a champion.

After you exhaust the dialogue, reload the area and talk to Jar Bairn. He will tell you about poachers and how cruel they are towards the living jars.

Progressing Diallos’ Quest

To advance to the next step of Jar Bairn’s questline, you must complete Diallos’ questline until you finish two assassination contracts and exhaust his dialogue afterward. Diallos should then leave Volcano Manor and travel to Jarburg.

Once Diallos leaves Volcano Manor, fast travel to Jarburg Site of Grace, then speak to Jar-Bairn again, and he should mention Diallos’ arrival to Jarburg.

Look for Diallos inside one of the huts and speak with him to exhaust his dialogue. Reload the area and speak to Jar Bairn and Diallos again — you may need to do this a few times until you get a new dialogue. After that, spend at least one night at the Site of Grace (pass time), and Jar Bairn will move to the pathway.

Speak with Jar, then with Diallos, who is dying in the middle of the village, to find out what happened to him. After another reload, find Jar Bairn next pass the times’ body and speak to him again.

Progressing Alexander Iron Fist’s Questline

For the last step, you must complete the Alexander Iron Fist questline. Deliver the “Alexander’s Innards” Item to Jar-Bairn, then reload the area one last time.
