Finding an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Cat Footfall is one of the objectives you receive from Ivaldi when you play the Asgard story arc in the video game developed by Ubisoft, and this riddle can prove difficult to solve if you don’t know where to look for this specific quest-item.

The AC Valhalla Cat Footfall, just like The Root Of A Mountain, are items that allow you to progress the story in Asgard, thus, it is mandatory to find both of them.

So, in case you wonder how to solve Ivaldi’s riddle and complete A Feline’s Footfall quest, the guide below should help you.

As usual, we won’t go into details in order to keep our guide spoilers-free, but just so you know, the quest named A Feline’s Footfall is triggered after you talk to Ivaldi in Asgard.

At this point, you’ll receive two additional quests: A Feline’s Footfall and Taking Root.

As the game instructs you, the first thing you’ll want to do in order to complete Ivaldi’s puzzles is to check your inventory and the quest items tab.

Here, look for a Cat’s Foot Note you can see below.

AC Valhalla Cat’s Foot Note Clues

Good, so as you can see, the Cat’s Foot Note in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla includes a small riddle that basically tells you where to find the Cat Footfall.

Read the note first

The riddle goes like this:

“Over the gate to the Great Norse Hall,

A golden cat sits patiently,

Gazing upon many tall towers,

She’ll flee when she is found,

But follow without fear.

Look, leap, and descend,

Once she leads you to the end,

She may ghost to the ground,

Land as well, and swiftly steal her sound.”

From this note, we can get 4 clues:

  • We need to find a golden cat
  • The cat is above the gate to the Great Norse Hall
  • The cat will flee, meaning that we need to chase her
  • At the end of the chase, she’ll disappear.

So let’s go get the golden cat, shall we?

How To Get The Cat Footfall

Open your map and travel to Asgard’s central area, as you can see in my screenshot below. Here you’ll find the Great Norse Hall, which is basically the main building in Asgard.

Travel to this spot in Asgard

Next, call Synin, and look above the western gate to spot the golden cat.

You can see it in my image, and It looks just like a statue.

Spot the golden cat above the western gate

Now, all you have to do is to climb the said gate and try to get close to the golden cat.

Except that when you do that, she’ll vanish.

The idea behind this section of the quest is similar to the Flying Papers you need to collect in the game, the only difference being that the golden cat vanishes to a spot nearby, and you’ll have to get close to her.

She won’t run but vanish.

This means that after you get close to the first location, you’ll have to descend to the pillar below you, where you should see her.

Next, continue to descend to a large rock under a tree nearby, then use the rope and zip down to the tower in the distance.

The chase continues the moment you release the rope (when close to the cat), and you’ll see her on top of a pillar, then she’ll vanish on top of a Viking structure with two dragon heads.

Next, she’ll move to a pole you can reach by jumping. And then she’s gone.

The pole in question can be seen below.

Jump into the haystack below to catch the golden cat

When you reach it, all you have to do is to perform a Leap of Faith in the haystack below, and you’ll collect the golden cat when you reach the ground.

That’s how you complete the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla A Feline’s Footfall quest by finding the Cat Footfall.
