The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Cat Companion, or if you want the AC Valhalla Boat Cat Companion, is unlike Synin, a reward you receive for completing one of the World Events in the East Anglia region.
It is a very short side-quest that we’ll cover below, and you can attempt it the moment you visit Northwic, preferably after you help Asta.
This specific quest is called Freyja’s Friend, and our reward is a cute cat that will join our crew.
And honestly, who doesn’t need a cat on a wooden boat?
It’s a must-have companion, so let’s go get one.
Where To Find The Cat Companion In AC Valhalla
So let’s start with the cat’s location because, believe it or not, this cat is our quest giver. Sort of…
As you can see on my game map below, the cat is found in the center of Northwic.
It’s pretty easy to find because this feline stands close to two Viking pillars.
You can see it in the following picture.
Once you are next to it, interact with the cat, and, to no surprise, you’ll see it running away.
After several seconds, a little boy will come looking after his cat.
How To Recruit The Longship Cat
The next thing you’ll have to do is really straightforward. Find the cat, and it’s yours to keep.
Luckily for you, the little boy knows where the cat is.
That’s because the cat returns to the home of his former master, who died.
Really intelligent animal, right?
Good, so for this quest, just follow the boy who will take you to the cat.
The animal is very close, and when you get to it, all you have to do is to interact with your new friend, and that’s it.
A small cutscene will start, and the cat will join your crew.
If you want to see the cat on your boat, fast-travel to your longship and take a look around.
As you can see in my picture above, the poor animal is taking shelter because it’s raining.
That’s how you unlock the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Longship Cat companion by completing the Freyja’s Friend quest.
