War Effort is an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla limited-time quest you have to complete during the Sigrblot Summer Festival Event to get ready for The Siege of Paris DLC, and it is one of the longest quests available in the video game developed by Ubisoft. That’s because the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla War Effort quest has multiple objectives you’ll have to complete. Some are longer, while others are shorter.
Nevertheless, the War Effort Sigrblot Festival quest is quite amazing and funny at the same time, not to mention that if you complete it, you’ll get a lot of festival tokens you can spend for some unique rewards. As such, to help you with the Sigrblot Festival War Effort quest, below we’ll go over all the objectives you need to complete.
To be able to start the Sigrblot Festival, make sure you fulfill the following requirements:
- You reach England by following the game’s story
- You complete either Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire story arcs
- Your settlement is Level 2 or higher
Once all these have been accomplished, travel to Ravensthorpe and check the eastern side of the settlement to trigger a cutscene. This Festival has a series of quests you can complete; however, only two can be replayed.
Basically, the only main quest is the War Efforts, which includes a series of tasks and sub-quests. War Efforts is a one-time-only quest. Additionally, you’ll be able to play War Games and Test Your Metal.
War Games is a replayable quest during which you’ll get to play Orlog with Alwin. Your goal is to beat him and earn Festival Tokens.
Test Your Metal is also a replayable quest you can complete as many times as you want. To finish it, you’ll need to defeat three waves of enemies in the arena while testing Swinda’s weapons.
The Sigrblot Festival Tokens you earn can be spent at Norvid’s Shop. You can find it in the Festival Area under a red tent. From him, you can buy the Hunting Falcon, the one-handed sword, multiple Settlement Cosmetics, and Tattoos. The best way to get a lot of Tokens is to complete the War Effort quest covered below.
Once you do that, you’ll have to replay the War Games and Test Your Metal quests in case you need more Tokens. After you get all the items from the Festival Shop, there is no need to continue grinding tokens.
Assuming you have met all requirements listed above, fast travel to the Eivor’s Settlement, and you’ll be welcomed by Sunniva. After a rather long cutscene, the Sigrblot Festival begins, and so is The War Effort quest. To make things easier to follow, let’s go over this quest in steps.
Step #1: Consult The Carvings Surrounding The Offerings Boat
To complete this step, check the eastern side of your settlement. East of the Sigrblot Festival area, you’ll see a boat with three wood carvings around it. You can also see it below.
The idea here is pretty simple. Each carving depicts a Norse God, and you’ll receive a set of tasks when you interact with them. There are actually four carvings (one is across the road), and you’ll need to complete all tasks to progress through this quest.
If you pay close attention, you’ll see they are different and feature several distinctive elements. For example, one carving has some notes on it (left side in the image above). Let’s start with this one.
Statue #1: Notes & Sword Carving
Once you interact with the carving that has some notes pinned on it, you’ll receive the following tasks:
- Call a Feast at the Longhouse
- Apply a Tattoo
- Find the 3 War Letters in the Festival Area
These are the easiest tasks, so here is how to complete them.
To call a feast at the Longhouse, head to your Longhouse on top of the hill. If you are new to the game, then it’s quite impossible to miss it since it’s the largest building. Go around it, and close to the side door (facing east), you’ll see a bell similar to the one below.
Interact with it to call a feast. That’s all you have to do for this objective.
To apply a Tattoo to your character, you need a Tattoo Shop. This building is mandatory during the game; if you have finished the story, you will most likely have one in your settlement. Simply visit the Tattoo Shop and pick a tattoo to complete this step. It doesn’t matter which one you apply.
For the final task, you must find three War Letters in the Festival Area. Return to the Sigrblot Festival and start scanning the area around the large wolf.
- The first letter is on a table close to Alwin and the War Games icon on your map. There are also two barrels on that table.
- The second War Letter is on an anvil behind the giant wolf statue.
- The third War Letter is also near some barrels under a red tent. You can see some warriors drinking mead next to it.
Make sure you get these to complete the third task, and if you need additional help, check our War Letter locations guide.
Statue #1: Roasted Pig Carving
After completing the objectives above, head back to the wooden statues. Go around them and identify the one with a roasted pig in front of it. You can see it below.
Interact with it, and you’ll receive the next set of tasks:
- Help Thyra with the sacrifice
- Help Braun with the pigs
- Humble Ake
These are a bit longer than the previous three, so pay attention to what you must do.
To help Thyra, you’ll have to complete the Feeding The Wolf quest. But first, you’ll need to find her. You may remember Thyra from the Ostara Festival. If not, look for her in front of the burning wolf in the Festival Area. Here she is.
Upon talking to her, you’ll receive a new quest, and your goal is to find the shrines near the waterfall in your settlement. The waterfall is located just north of your Longhouse, on top of the hill. When you arrive there, you’ll see these shrines and letters. Read all three of them.
After you read the third letter, you can interact with several crates. Pick one and carry it back to the Festival Area. Now, you’ll need to make the sacrifice. Simply place Eivor in front of the wolf, and while carrying the crate, aim for the belly, then throw the crate into the fire.
Great, so now that the sacrifice is made, it’s time to light the torch for the God of your choice. Close to Thyra, there are three wooden statues depicting Freyja, Baldr, and Thor. Each sculpture has a table in front of it.
Hold Down on your D-Pad, pull out your torch, and ignite one of the small braziers. Once you do that, return to Thyra, and you’ll be asked to collect your Festival Tokens from three specific locations.
- The first Tokens can be found on a small shrine up on a hill overseeing the docks.
- The next Tokens are found on a shrine near Eydis, also on the docks where you can hire Jomsvikings.
- The last Tokens sit on a shrine on the right side of the dock’s entrance as you descend the hill.
Once you pick all Tokens, the Feeding the Wolf quest ends. To help Braun, you need to complete the Three Big Pigs quest.
First, return to the Festival Area and look for Braun, who sits in front of a small encounter. Which happens to be empty because the pigs ran. Here is Braun.
Once you talk to him, he’ll ask you to find three pigs. From your current location, head north to find the crashed pig cart marked on your map. Here is where to find the pigs.
- The first pig is east from the cart, in front of a field with violet flowers.
- The second pig is southeast of the previous one. You’ll find it on the path leading up the mountain.
- The third pig is southwest of the second one as you descend the hill toward the Festival Area. Look for another cart.
Now, whenever you get close to a pig, whistle by pressing (not holding) Left on your D-Pad, and the poor creature will follow you. After you find all three pigs, lead them back to Braun and enter the small encounter.
The pigs should follow, but the quest won’t end when you talk to Braun, so head back to the three statues and pick another brazier to light up. Just like you did for Thyra’s quest. Again, you can use this visual guide if you need help with the Three Pig locations.
The last task that must be completed for the second carving is the easiest, and it requires you to humble Ake at flyting or to complete the Fight Or Flyte quest. To do so, first, find Ake sitting in front of his house.
You can see him below, and you should be able to spot him near the carvings.
To keep things simple, here are the correct answers you need to give to defeat Ake:
- “While I fight and I bleed. You turn honey to mead”.
- “A calm life is yours to choose. I draw blood, you nurse your brews!”
- “You are drunk or insane, with rank rot in your brain.”
- “In due time, you’ll be skilled, Til then, wait, lest you’re killed.”
The War Effort quest will progress by finishing this task, so it’s time to check another statue.
Statue #3: Arrows & Nets Carving
The third carving in the Festival Area also comes with another series of tasks. You can see it below, and you can notice that it has some arrows and some fishing nets on it.
After you interact with this carving, you’ll receive the next set of objectives:
- Collect animal goods from Hunting
- Catch a fish
- Loot Foreign Supplies from a River Raid
Collecting animal goods from hunting is extremely easy to finish because you only have to hunt an animal. So just head north from your settlement and look for a wild animal. It can be a rabbit, wolf, or fox. It doesn’t matter. Hunt it, and you’re done because you only need one.
Similar to the previous task, for the second one, you only have to catch a fish. Head to the docks, pull out your fishing rod by holding Down on your D-Pad, and start fishing. Again, you need only one fish; the type and size are unimportant.
To loot Foreign Supplies from a River Raid, you must visit Vagn and start a River Raid. Again, it’s not important which location you raid as long as you get the supplies. So, head to the docks, talk to Vagn, and, for example, travel to River Exe. When you arrive, raid any location you want. Focus on those close to you. After you get the supplies, return to your settlement, and the task ends.
Statue #4: Weapons Carving
The last two tasks you have to complete are also very accessible. These can be triggered by inspecting the fourth and last wooden statue near the boat. It is just across the dirt path, and as you can see, it has some weapons nearby.
Inspect it, and you’ll be asked to:
- Buy something from Norvid’s Shop
- Defeat Alwin in a game of Orlog
Defeating Alwin at Orlog is far easier than you think, especially if you have completed the game and all Orlog activities. He’s a mediocre opponent you can defeat quite fast. You’ll find him near the wolf statue under a tree. Play your best cards, and the task ends.
The final task you must complete is buying something from Norvid’s Shop. Assuming you followed the order above, you should have more than enough Festival Tokens. Look for Norvid under a red tent just behind Braun and his pigs. You can see him below.
Talk to Norivd and buy something from him. Maybe the one-handed sword?
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla War Effort Final Offering
To complete the War Effort quest, you’ll need to make one Final Offering once you finish all tasks. Your first goal is to find Sunniva, located by the river (southeast of the Festival Area). Talk to her, and she’ll ask you to pick a God. What you choose determines what you get once the quest ends.
For example, if you pick Thor, you’ll receive Thor’s Brazier, which can be placed in the village, and a Thor Idol. This decision, however, won’t affect the story or the next DLC. So pick any God, then use the ballista to set the boat on fire.
And that’s it. You just finished the War Effort Sigrblot Festival Quest in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla!
