Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Root Of A Mountain Location Guide

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Root Of A Mountain is the second item you have to find for Ivaldi when you play the Asgard story arc in the video game developed by Ubisoft, and to do this, you have to solve another riddle that can prove difficult if you don’t know where to look for this specific quest-item.

The AC Valhalla Root Of A Mountain, just like the Cat Footfall, is an item that allows you to progress the story in Asgard. This means that without it, you won’t be able to move forward with the story. So, if you wonder how to solve Ivaldi’s riddle and complete the Taking Root quest, the guide below should help you.

As usual, we won’t go into details to keep our guide spoilers-free, but so that you know, the quest named Taking Root is triggered after you talk to Ivaldi in Asgard. At this point, you’ll receive two additional quests: A Feline’s Footfall and Taking Root. Since we already covered A Feline’s Footfall, let’s do the same with Taking Root.

Again, as the game instructs you, the first thing you’ll want to do to complete Ivaldi’s puzzles is to check your inventory and the quest items tab. Here, look for the Potential At Its Peak Note, which you can see below.

AC Valhalla Potential at Its Peak Riddle Solution

As you can see, the Potential At Its Peak Note in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla includes a small riddle that tells you where to find the Root Of A Mountain and what you have to do with it.

The riddle goes like this:

“Cradled in rock,

At Asgard’s highest height,

A seed sleeps in Ymir’s cold grip.

Warm it awake, bring it to water,

For old bone to sprout with new life.”

From this note, we can get three clues:

• The seed is located in the highest spot in Asgard
• Once found, the seed must be warmed
• Then it must be put in water so it can sprout

How To Get the Root of a Mountain

Open your map and travel to the southern island of Asgard. Specifically to the highpoint you see on my map below.

Now, right under the highpoint, if you look down, you’ll see the seed. In my screenshot below, you can see that it is near some hay, and you can’t miss it because it’s glowing.

The next step, once you find the seed, is to warm it. And to do that, you’ll need the torch. So pull it out and light the hay near the seed, just like in my screenshot.

Now that the seed is warm, for the final step, pick it up and throw it off the cliff into the lake below your current location. Make sure you drop it into the water, perform a Leap of Faith in the lake, and look for it.

Once you pick it up, you will receive the Root Of A Mountain, and you can return to Ivaldi.
