Almost five months after its release, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is far from being a bug-free game and while devs focus on bringing new content to the table (such as Ostara Festival); one of the most annoying glitches persists; a glitch that is not only game-breaking but it will stop you from completing Of Blood And Bonds quest.
The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Of Blood And Bond bug hunted me for the last five months and kept me away from the game; simply because I wasn’t able to find a fix for it.
Until now, because I finally managed to beat the AC Valhalla story; thus I am ready to share with you guys a walkaround for it.
But first, let me tell you how this AC Valhalla Of Blood And Bonds quest bug or glitch actually affects players and why it is a game-breaking bug.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Of Blood And Bonds Halfdan Glitch
Also known as AC Valhalla Of Blood And Bonds Halfdan glitch this bug can be encountered at the end of the quest named Of Blood And Bonds quest when you (Eivor) have to witness Halfdan’s coronation.
This coronation is taking place in Jorvik and the game tells you that the coronation will only start when Halfdan is present.
Now, finding Halfdan is not hard as he is standing on the walls near the big hall where the coronation is about to start.
The problem here is that Halfdan (pictured below); is not willing to participate in his coronation, because he is dead, drunk, or he is sleeping.
You can take your pick here, but as you can see he is just not going to move. And you can’t make him, because you can’t interact with him.
Basically, you won’t be able to do anything. As funny as this bug is at first, it becomes really annoying later; because without being able to talk to Halfdan, you won’t be able to finish Of Blood And Bonds, thus the associated arc.
Furthermore, this means that you won’t be able to report to Randvi; hence the whole story is going to stop for you.
And yes, all achievements and trophies will remain locked; because Halfdan decided that it’s better to go prone and ignore everyone by sticking his head into the ground.
And that’s the AC Valhalla Of Blood And Bonds Halfdan Bug that kept me away from actually seeing how the story ends.
Ubisoft’s AC Valhalla Of Blood And Bonds Bug Fix
Now, you can imagine how frustrating it is to put up several hundreds of hours into AC Valhalla, just to find Halfdan facing down on a wall refusing to talk, walk or even feed his dog.
So, you may want to know when Ubisoft is going to fix this bug? Because it’s a big one.
Well, the answer here is still unknown because according to UbiExcellent (aka the Ubisoft Support Staff): “At this time, the teams are still investigating this issue but we will continue to keep everyone here informed as soon as updates become available to us.”
This was posted 4 months after the game was released. Yes, 4 months for a bug/glitch that will stop you from finishing the game.
But the good news is that you can focus on finding Easter Eggs; thanks to the new content the devs released. Or you can follow the guide below and force Halfdan to move.
And that’s exactly what I am going to share with you.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Halfdan Glitch Solution
For this bug fix to work, it is mandatory to unlock the Dive of the Valkyries ability, otherwise, you won’t be able to make Halfdan move.
The said ability allows Eivor to launch into the air and come crashing down onto his enemies. No, you won’t have to do this on Halfdan, if that’s what you are asking.
Next, you’ll need some stamina or at least 2 bars (yellow) filled. Normally you need only one, but let’s assume you won’t succeed the first time.
And now for the element of surprise. Or the cherry on the cake.
What you have to do is to set Halfdan on fire.
But here we have another problem because while next to him you won’t be able to use any weapons. So, you’ll have to find another way.
Open your map, and north-east of your location you’ll see the Multangular Tower. It is in Jorvik, just across Ouse River.
Get there and look for a red barrel or an explosive jar.
You can see two of them in my screenshot below and there are also several enemies you can kill here to fill those stamina bars.
Now, obviously, you’ll have to carry the jar back to our dead Halfdan. It is a slow journey but definitely worth it. Just make sure you don’t drop it.
When near Halfdan, place the jar next to his body and perform a Dive of the Valkyries close to it. This will make the jar explode and Halfdan will start burning like a torch.
As you can guess, there are several possible outcomes you should be aware of, so I’ll list them below so you know what you have to do:
- If Halfdan is not moving, go back and get another jar, then repeat the same procedure
- Assuming you manage to set him on fire, he’ll move to another area and he will drop to the ground. If that’s the case, try to pick up his body
- If you can’t, set him on fire again
- On the other hand, if you manage to grab him, take him to the throne room and place his body near the throne
- Now a cutscene should start and Of Blood And Bonds quest continues
- If the cutscene doesn’t start, move around and mash the interact button (triangle on PS4/Ps5)
Finally, as you can see in my image below after I set Halfdan on fire, he jumped over the wall, obviously facing the ground.
The good thing is that I managed to carry his body, and finally finished Of Blood And Bonds quest. Thanks to Xbox user MetSPECIAL, not Ubisoft.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Wrath Of Druids How To: Get Clogher Ability Wealth
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Clogher is one of the landmarks in Ulster; the fourth Irish area in the Wrath of the Druids DLC, and by exploring it you’ll be able to unlock the Smoke Bomb Arrow Ability for Eivor.
The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Wrath Of Druids Clogher Book Of Knowledge also counts as a collectible you’ll need to get if you aim for 100% completion in the game, and below I’ll tell you how to get this Ability in the first DLC because it is one of the trickiest collectibles.
Similar to Aileach Gear we covered earlier.
As usual, let’s start with the exact location of the Clogher Ability in Ulster.
On my map below, you can see that Clogher is found on the central island in Ulster, just west of Sleeve Gallion.
As you arrive at this location, you’ll notice that the village is deserted.
Now, if you scan the area the Book Of Knowledge in Clogher appears underground.
So, finding the entrance is the key here. Except that this entrance is a bit difficult to spot.
Here is what you need to do.
How To Get The Clogher Book Of Knowledge (Ulster Wealth)
Head to the upper side of the village and try to position yourself on top of the icon showing the Book Of Knowledge.
You should be in front of a door, and if you turn left you’ll notice several red jars.
In my screenshot above you can see that they are found in front of a shack with some hay inside.
Pick one of them.
Now go around the shack in the screenshot (left side), and descend to the lower level.
You should be able to spot a rather large tree and behind it, a wall covered with ivy.
Look closer and you’ll see a breakable wall (pictured).
At this point, you should be around 47 meters away from the Clogher Wealth.
Place the jar in front of the wall, then shoot it.
Next, get inside the cave and in the first room pull the large stone on the left side.
Go behind it to collect the Book of Knowledge which unlocks the Smoke Bomb Arrow Ability.
And that’s it, Viking. You just found the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Wrath Of Druids Clogher Book Of Knowledge in the first DLC of the video game developed by Ubisoft.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Wrath Of Druids How To: Get Aileach Wealth Gear
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Aileach is a landmark in Ulster; the fourth Irish area in the Wrath of the Druids DLC, and by exploring it you’ll be able to unlock the Celtic Helmet for Eivor.
The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Wrath Of Druids Aileach Wealth Gear also counts as a collectible you’ll need to get if you aim for 100% completion in the game, and below I’ll tell you how to get the Celtic Helmet in the first DLC because this is one of the trickiest chests in Ireland.
As usual, let’s start with the exact location of the Aileach Gear Chest in Ulster.
On my map below, you can see that Aileach is found east of Dysert, on the western side of Ulster.
It is also worth mentioning that there are two Wealth Collectibles in Aileach; however, the Tungsten Ingot here is easy to get since it’s dropped by one of the mobs.
So basically by killing that specific enemy that is patrolling the camp will get you the Ingot in Aileach.
The Gear Chest, on the other hand, must be unlocked, and this can cause a bit of frustration since it’s inside a room.
Obviously, that room has a barred door and you’ll need to destroy the locker to get the Aileach Gear Wealth.
How To Get The Aileach Gear Chest (Ulster Wealth)
The very first thing you’ll want to do here is to visualize where the gear chest is found.
So scout the camp and you’ll notice that it’s found in a room close to the camp’s prison.
There is a grated window on the left side of the door you need to unlock.
You can also notice that the room with the chest is on the lowest floor of the camp. Here is the door in question.
Now comes the tricky part.
To be able to open this specific door, you’ll need to go to the upper level.
Just above the room with the chest.
Next, you’ll want to look around to spot several tents.
One of them has a lot of helmets near the entrance (on the ground).
Inside that specific red tent, you’ll see a grate on the floor (pictured).
Shoot an arrow through that grate and aim for the locker to unlock the door.
Now retrace your steps to the room with the gear and open the door.
On the left side, you’ll see the Aileach Gear Chest with the Celtic Helmet inside.
And that’s it, Vikings. You just found the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Wrath Of Druids Aileach Wealth Chest in the first DLC of the video game developed by Ubisoft, so now let’s get the Clogher Book of Knowledge.
