Brother’s Keeper is a side quest in which you must find Bardolph, Claire Beaumont’s brother in Hogwarts Legacy. You can also help Claire by clearing some goblin encampments in the Breaking Camp side mission, available in the same area, Hogsmeade Valley.
But let’s return to the missing brother, who seems to practice Dark Magic. He was last seen in the forest, wearing a particular woolen jumper. The Brother’s Keeper side mission can be challenging if you attempt to play it unprepared. To start this quest, you must first find Dorothy Sprottle in Upper Hogsfield, north of Hogsmeade.
The quest and the area in question become available only after completing the Welcome To Hogsmeade. Once in Upper Hogsfield, look for Dorothy, the quest giver, who rakes the garden in front of the house a couple of meters north of the Foo Flame from this area.
You can now talk to her to start the Brother’s Keeper side quest.
How To Discover What Happened to Bardolph Beaumont
As mentioned above, you must discover what happened to Claire Beaumont’s brother. He was last seen in the Forbidden Forest area, and if you open your map, you’ll see the exact location, as shown in the following screenshot.
Before you go on your quest, you can also speak with Claire to get some extra intel. Claire is located at the stand with the giant skeleton head northeast of Dorothy Sprottle’s location. Now, make your way to the northeastern corner of the Forbidden Forest area by following the quest tracker.
Upon reaching the spot, you’ll be surrounded by Inferius enemies, which you must fight. This enemy class is invulnerable to most types of damage, and you’ll have to use the Incendio spell learned after completing Professor Hecat’s Assignment 1. Confringo will also do the trick. This spell gets unlocked during the In the Shadow of the Undercroft main quest.
If you decide to fight them, don’t forget to use the Circle button on your PlayStation controller to dodge their attacks. You can also use the Protego spell by pressing Triangle to defend yourself when attacked.
Another good tip is to keep an eye out for when at least one segment of your Ancient Magic meter is full. If so, you can aim at an enemy and press L1 + R1 to inflict a lot of damage. The Ancient Magic meter gets filled while taking damage or making consecutive attacks. After defeating enough Inferius, Bardolph Beaumont’s Corpse will appear and attack you.
Go ahead and fight him, but be aware he is level 17. After defeating Bardolph, you’ll obtain his Tattered Jumper and can now go back to Upper Hogsfield to report to Claire what happened with his brother. Upon giving the sad news, you complete the Brother’s Keeper side quest and obtain a Wand Handle as a reward.
