Hogsmeade Valley Ancient Magic Hotspot counts as a collectible required for the Collect Ancient Magic Traces challenges in Hogwarts Legacy. Completing these challenges will increase the capacity of the Ancient Magic Meter, and you can track your progress from the Exploration tab of the Challenges menu.

There are 20 Ancient Magic Hotspots, and they become available once you complete Percival Rackham’s Trial main quest. Besides the Ancient Magic Hotspot, the Hogsmeade Valley region features many other collectibles, as you can see here.

To clear this Ancient Magic Hotspot, you must go to the east part of the region.

So head there, preferably using the East Hogsmeade Valley Floo Flame, and let’s see how to complete the activity.

How To Complete the Hogsmeade Valley Ancient Magic Hotspot

First, you must find the magic pool in front of the castle ruin southwest of the East Hogsmeade Valley Floo Flame.

Interact with the pool of magic by pressing the Square/X button on your PlayStation/Xbox controller. Then, climb the ladder to the right of the castle gate, marked with the top arrow in the previous image.

Go left on the wooden platform, and you’ll reach a hole in the castle wall covered by vines. Burn the vines with the Incendio spell learned after completing Professor Hecat’s Assignment 1. To complete the Hogwarts Legacy Hogsmeade Valley Ancient Magic Hotspot, you have to go through the hole and then find three nearby Magic Runes.

One Rune can be found directly in front of the way you came in. Another is on top of the wooden platforms to the left.

And for the last Magic Rune, you must shoot the crane marked by the middle arrow in the screenshot above. Then drop down through the hole in the floor, and you’ll find the third Rune a few meters to the east.
