Hogwarts Legacy Manor Cape Merlin Trials are puzzles you must solve in the southern area to get a step closer to unlocking Merlin’s Beard! Trophy/Achievement.
The Manor Cape Merlin Trials are also mandatory if you want to achieve 100% completion in the area.
In addition, while solving Merlin Trials puzzles, you complete Challenges increasing your inventory size in the process.
However, you have 2 requirements you must meet before you start solving the puzzles:
- Complete the Trials Of Merlin main quest
- Have Mallowsweet Leaves in your inventory
The Mallowsweet Leaves can be grown in the Room of Requirement after you buy the Mallowsweet Seed Recipe from the Magic Neep shop in Hogsmeade.
Considering that the Hogwarts Legacy Manor Cape Merlin Trials can be tricky, maybe it’s not a bad idea to check the following guide, where we’ll explain where to find and how to solve the puzzles.
Hogwarts Legacy Manor Cape Merlin Trials Locations Map
On the Manor Cape map below, we’ve pinpointed the locations of all 5 Merlin Trials in the area.
Furthermore, we’ll provide additional instructions for each puzzle, following the same order as the one on our map.
Merlin Trial #1: Near A Ruined Mansion
The first Manor Cape Merlin Trial is found near the ruined mansion northeast of the West Manor Cape Floo Flame.
Upon finding the altar northwest of the mansion, start the Trial and look around for 3 braziers you have to light with Confringo.
You can cast Revelio to highlight the braziers. One is northeast of the altar (really close), another up on a cliff west, and the last southwest next to some stairs.
You have a short time period to light the braziers, so position yourself in the middle to quickly reach all 3 with Confringo.
Also, it would be best to start with the tallest brazier and finish with the smallest.
Merlin Trial #2: By The Water
For the second Hogwarts Legacy Manor Cape Merlin Trial, you have to head east of the West Manor Cape Floo Flame.
Once you find the altar by the water at the second location marked on the map above, start the Trial and look for 3 stones that get highlighted if you cast Revelio.
The stones are close enough to the altar, one to the west, another north, and the last east.
As you can see, each stone is made out of 2 parts, each having symbols on all sides.
To solve the puzzle, you must use Flipendo on the top parts of the stones until the symbols on them match with the ones on the bottom pieces.
Note that the way the top parts flip depends on your position toward them when casting Flipendo.
Now you can go to one of the stones and practice with Flipendo to figure out exactly how it works.
Once the symbols match on all 3 stones, the Trial is completed.
Merlin Trial #3: On A Beach
Manor Cape Merlin Trial #3 is on the beach southeast of the West Manor Cape Floo Flame.
After you get to the spot, interact with the altar and go to the round boulder to the northwest.
To solve the puzzle, you must use Depulso to push the boulder into a hole up the slope north.
Spam Depulso fast to make the boulder go uphill, and make sure you’re not too close to the slope so you don’t slip.
Merlin Trial #4: Next To A Bridge
The next Hogwarts Legacy Manor Cape Merlin Trial can be solved next to a bridge southeast of the previous altar.
Start the Trial and cast Revelio to highlight 3 stones with diamond-shaped holes.
One stone is southeast of the altar, close to it, another west, and the last near the dead tree north.
To complete the Merlin Trial, you must find 3 groups of green fireflies and bring them to the stones (one group per stone).
One group of fireflies is in front of the bridge south of the altar, another is under the same bridge, and the last is in a small cave under the dead tree north.
To enter the small cave, you must cast Lumos and make the Devil’s Snare retreat.
Also, to get the fireflies to follow you, cast Lumos near them.
Merlin Trial #5: Next To Some Ruins
Finally, Manor Cape Merlin Trial altar #5 is next to some ruins in the southeastern part of the area, at the fifth location pinpointed on our map.
First, interact with the altar, then cast Revelio and look around to see 5 stones highlighted.
The stones get revealed even through walls, as shown in the following image.
To complete the fifth Trial, you must destroy all 5 stones using Confringo.
