Crossed Wands Round 3 is the last of three Hogwarts Legacy combat side quests, in which youβll have to defeat four other opponents to be crowned the tournament champion. The Crossed Wands Round 3 side quest is far more challenging than the previous two, and it will require some strategy and good timing to finish it successfully.
You must use the whole arsenal of spells youβve learned so far to take them out. So, letβs see how you can easily defeat your opponents and complete the duel. To unlock the Crossed Wands Round 3, you must complete the previous two challenges: Crossed Wands Round 1 and Crossed Wands Round 2.
Then, progress the story until you finish the Tomes and Tribulations Main Quest. Now, return to Lucan Brattleby at The South Wing part of Hogwarts Castle, near the Clock Tower Courtyard Floo Flame, and talk to him. Select the second prompt message to start the Crossed Wands Round 3 Side Quest. Make sure to pick a partner to help you in combat.

How to Defeat Your Opponents and Win the Duel
Like the previous two rounds, youβll have to defeat all four opponents without dying to complete the side quest. Each opponent has a shield of a different color that protects him from Basic Cast attacks. To remove the shield, youβll have to use a spell that has the same icon color as the shield.
But if you are doing the side quest early, youβll have limited spells to choose from.

- To remove the Violet Shields, you must use the spell Accio youβve learned duringΒ Charms ClassΒ Main Quest.
- To break the Yellow Shields, use the spell Levioso youβve learned duringΒ Defence Against The Dark Arts ClassΒ Main Quest.
- Finally, use the spell Incendio youβve learned during Professor Hecatβs Assignment 1 to remove the Red Shield.
Another way to break any type of shield and deal a lot of damage is to use the Ancient Magic Throw by pressing (R1)/(RB) near objects like barrels around the arena.

The most efficient strategy to complete the Crossed Wands Round 3 Side Quest is to focus on one enemy at a time until you take him out of the battle. While you try to take out your opponents early on, keep an eye out for the golden aura above your head. Press (β³)/(Y) when you see it to cast Protego and deflect the incoming projectiles or spells.
Also, use the Magic Ancient Throw weβve mentioned earlier to deal high amounts of damage, not just to break the shields. Another important thing is to use Levioso or Accio when you throw objects at the enemy to deal double damage.
