Hogwarts Legacy In The Shadow Of Time is the fourth relationship quest as part of Sebastian Sallow’s questline, which rewards you with one of the Unforgivable Curses, Imperio. During the quest, you and Sebastian must find the powerful relic mentioned in Salazar Slytherin’s Spellbook in the hope that it will cure Anne.
Through the catacombs you’re venturing, you will encounter a lot of spiders and a few puzzles involving piles of bones. To unlock In The Shadow Of Time Quest in Hogwarts Legacy, you must meet a few requirements.
First, you’ll have to complete his previous relationship quests until you’ve finished In The Shadow Of Discovery Quest, where you plan to find a powerful relic. Then, you must advance the story until you’ve finished Fire And Vice Main Quest and complete Professor Weasley’s Assignment, where you’ll learn the spell Transformation.
After you meet all the requirements, Sebastian will message you through the Owl Post to meet him at the Feldcroft Catacomb. We’ve marked his location on the map below.
Speak with Sebastian in front of the catacomb to discover what he learned about the relic and to start In The Shadow Of Time Quest.
Where To Find the Relic
After you finish the conversation, enter the Feldcroft Catacomb and follow the path until you reach the first room. Deal with the two venomous spiders and burn the spider webs by casting the spell Confringo or Incendio to progress further. Before going further, you can use the spell Accio to pull the wooden crate under the wall opening to the northwest and climb the crate to reach a Collection Chest.
Move into the next room, where you’ll encounter more venomous spiders. You can use the spell Depulso learned during Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 to destroy the broken door in the southwest part of the room.
The door leads to a dead-end with a couple of treasures guarded by a few more spiders. Now, follow the path east into the next room and pick up the Student Journal Entry near a pile of bones in the middle of the room.
Speak with Sebastian about the note, which mentions a student who plans to return for the relic and conjures barricades using bones to protect it.
How To Find a Way Through the Barricade (Puzzle Solution)
To go through the barricade and progress further, you’ll have to pick up the piles of bones around the room and place them in front of it using the spell Wingardium Leviosa learned during Professor Garlick’s Assignment 1.
The first pile of bones is on the altar in the middle of the room, where the Student Journal Entry was. The second pile of bones is inside a tomb in the southern part of the room. Cast Accio to pull the handle and reveal the bones behind. You can also cast Revelio by pressing DPad Left to highlight their location.
Grab the pile of bones using Wingardium Leviosa and place them in front of the barricade. The last pile of bones can be found in a small room to the right of the barricade. Cast Depulso to destroy the broken door and cast Accio to pull the bones out of the tomb.
After you place all three piles of bones on the barricade, they will create an archway of bones that will clear the path to progress further with In The Shadow Of Time Quest.
Proceed into the next room to start a conversation with Sebastian. He will ask you if you want to learn the Imperio Spell, and you will have two choices: whether to learn it or not. Pick the second dialogue option if you want to learn the Imperius Curse.
After selecting to learn the Imperius Curse, you’ll be prompted to learn the wand’s movements for the Imperio spell in Hogwarts Legacy. Now, you’ll have the Imperio in your spells collection to use and control the enemies’ minds to act as your ally and attack your enemies.
Once you finish the conversation with Sebastian, a few venomous spiders will appear in the room, which is an excellent opportunity to use the new spell. After defeating the spiders, cast Depulso on the broken door to the south and enter the room with another bone barricade puzzle.
How To Find a Way Through the Second Barricade
This barricade puzzle is solved like the previous one, but two piles of bones are locked in tombs with symbols on them. Cast Revelio by pressing DPad Left to reveal their locations. To open these tombs, you’ll have to cast Accio and pull the handles above the individual symbols in the same order as on the tomb from top to bottom.
For the first pile of bones, pull the handle above the symbol that looks like a Tetris piece by casting Accio, which is to the left of the tomb. Then, pull the second handle above the symbol with three spirals in a circle on the western part of the room.
Grab the pile of bones with Wingardium Leviosa and place them on the barricade. To open the second tomb, pull the handle above the Tetris piece symbol again and then pull the handle above the symbol with multiple circles located northwest, to the left of the entrance.
Pick up this pile of bones and place it on the barricade. The last pile of bones is to the right of the barricade, impossible to miss.
Head into the next room, where you’ll have to defeat more spiders; what a surprise. After defeating them, burn the spider web and pick up the Lost Relic Illustration and The Relic’s Note on the Stone Table ahead.
Speak with Sebastian about the relic and leave the catacomb. As you try to leave the relic room, Ominis will show up. Wait for Sebastian and Ominis to finish talking, then persuade Ominis. It doesn’t matter what dialogue choices you pick. The end result is the same. Leave the catacombs the way you came and follow the path to Feldcroft to progress In The Shadow Of Time Quest.
As you get close to the hamlet, you’ll see smoke coming out of the houses. Feldcroft is under attack, and you’ll have to defend it from the Ranrok’s Royalists. After you defeat all Ranrok’s Royalists, there will be a cutscene with Anne, Sebastian, and their uncle, Solomon.
Finish the conversation with Sebastian, then speak with Solomon Sallow to complete In The Shadow Of Time in Hogwarts Legacy. The next quest available as part of Sebastian’s Relationship Questline is In The Shadow Of Distance.
