Hogwarts Legacy North Hogwarts Region Merlin Trial Solutions

Hogwarts Legacy North Hogwarts Region Merlin Trials are mandatory to unlock Merlin’s Beard! Trophy/Achievement and achieve 100% completion in the northern area of the video game.

But to solve the five Merlin Trial puzzles, you need Mallowsweet Leaves, which can be grown at a potting table in the Room of Requirement, provided you bought the Mallowsweet Seed Recipe from The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade. You can even find Mallowsweet Leaves in the beautiful open world of Hogwarts Legacy. Additionally, to unlock the Merlin Trials, you first need to complete the Trials Of Merlin main quest.

Where To Find the Five North Hogwarts Region Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy

Of course, to solve the puzzles, you must first know where they are located. As such, you should check the following North Hogwarts Region map, where we’ve marked the location of each Trial.

Merlin Trial #1: Northeast of the Korrow Ruins Floo Flame

The first Merlin Trial in the North Hogwarts Region is on the west side of the area, close to the entrance into Korrow Ruins. Note that in Korrow Ruins, you can find the North Hogwarts Region Infamous Foe.

To find the stone platform from where you start the Trial, all you have to do is head northeast of the Korrow Ruins Floo Flame. Upon starting the Trial, you must locate three torches and light them up using Confringo, which you unlock after completing the In the Shadow of the Undercroft main quest.

One torch is southwest of the stone platform, another in the ruins to the northwest, and the last uphill to the north. For the one in the ruins, you must first clear the entrance using Confringo. Now light all three torches to complete the first Hogwarts Legacy North Hogwarts Region Merlin Trial.

Merlin Trial #2: By a Stream

For the second Merlin Trial, you must head northeast of the previous puzzle; check the map above for the exact location. The stone platform is right by a stream, and you should interact with it to start the Trial.

To solve this puzzle, you must rebuild four statues using the Reparo spell, unlocked after completing Professor Ronen’s Assignment. The four statues, or what’s left of them, are found around the Trial’s stone platform.

The first to the northeast, the second to the east, the third to the southeast, and the last to the northwest. All of them can be easily spotted from the stone platform if you cast Revelio. Use the Reparo spell on each statue to solve the second Merlin Trial puzzle in the North Hogwarts Region.

Merlin Trial #3: Near a Waterfall

The third North Hogwarts Region Merlin Puzzle in Hogwarts Legacy is located near a waterfall southwest of the Jackdaw’s Tomb Floo Flame. Once you reach the third location on our map, start the Trial.

This time, you have three pillars, each with a stone on top. One pillar is next to the stone platform (southeast), another to the southwest on the small island in the middle of the lake, and the last to the northwest of the previous one. Again, use Revelio to spot them easily.

To solve this puzzle, you have to use the Flipendo spell to flip the stones so that the drawings on them match the ones on the pillars. You learn Flipendo after Professor Garlick’s Assignment 2. Note that the rocks get flipped differently depending on your position toward them. Practice a little to figure out how it works exactly.

Merlin Trial #4: Next to a Small Forest

For the next Merlin Trial, you’ll have to make your way to the Forbidden Forest Floo Flame and then head northwest. Upon reaching the fourth location on the map above, in the region’s southeast, look for the Trial’s stone platform near the forest. Complete this Trial using Confringo to destroy the balls on the small pillars west of the stone platform.

There is a total of 9 balls you have to destroy, and if you cast Revelio, they will all get highlighted blue.

Merlin Trial #5: Near a Small Tent

To find the last Merlin Trial in the North Hogwarts Region, you must go southeast of The Collector’s Cave Floo Flame. Look for the starting point of the Trial near a small tent in an open area.

To complete the fifth Merlin Trial in this region, you must find and bring the three swarms of fireflies (nearby) to the three stones next to the Trial’s starting point. We suggest you get on your Broom and gain altitude to spot the fireflies. They are hard to miss because of their glow.

Now, go to each group of fireflies (one at a time) and cast Lumos to make them follow you, then go to one of the stones (a free one; you can’t put more than one swarm of fireflies in one stone).
